Job SummaryOur client a leading communications provider is seeking a Network Engineer to join their team! This position is located in Charlotte, North Carolina.We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer IV to support the design, implementation, and optimization of complex network systems. This role requires deep technical expertise in routing protocols"”particularly BGP"”and a strong foundation in network architecture, resiliency, and troubleshooting within large-scale environments.Core ResponsibilitiesPlan, design, and implement high-complexity network systems and architecturesDevelop, maintain, and improve network configurations, standards, and protocol compatibilityCreate and execute Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for network changes and enhancementsAnalyze and validate network topologies, ensuring systems are properly integrated, operational, and resilientProvide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support across internal teams and external vendorsParticipate in network planning, architecture design, and engineering initiativesContribute to and lead technical projects as neededProduce and maintain detailed network diagrams using tools such as Visio or LucidchartMentor and support junior engineersEnsure compliance with applicable regulatory and operational standardsRequired Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentDeep understanding of networking fundamentals, including: OSI, TCP/IP models, and Optical transport conceptsAdvanced expertise in BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) "” candidates must be able to confidently design, implement, troubleshoot, and discuss BGP in depth without promptingSolid experience with additional routing protocols: OSPF, IS-IS, and MulticastStrong Layer 2 knowledge, including: Spanning Tree (STP), FabricPath, vPC / MLAG, HSRP / VRRP and XLAN / EVPN overlaysProven understanding of network architecture and design, including: Spine-leaf data center topologies, backbone and autonomous system design and Hub-and-spoke modelsExperience integrating hardware, software, and protocols into scalable network configurationsProficiency with network diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart)Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)7+ years of experience in network engineeringExperience working in large-scale, service provider, or enterprise environmentsFamiliarity with network migrations and infrastructure modernization effortsExperience with load balancing technologies (nice to have, not required)Experience using Jira for ticket management and workflow prioritizationIndustry certifications (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Arista) are a plus but not requiredKey Competencies & BehaviorsOrganizational skills and time management skillsCommunication skillsStrong technical skillsWork EnvironmentLocation: Englewood, Colorado.Onsite, Hybrid or RemoteCompensation & BenefitsPay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $50.00 and $57.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location.
