Senior Civil Engineer ,Data Center DevelopmentLocation: Austin TX / San Francisco CA / New York NYSalary: $200,000 - $250,000 per year, plus equityTravel: 20 to 30% to US project sitesType: Full-timeThe roleOne of the most active hyperscale data center developers in the US is hiring a Senior Civil Engineer to own the civil workstream across a multi-site, multi-state campus portfolio. This is an owner/developer position. You will be managing external civil consultants, driving permitting strategy across jurisdictions, and making the calls on grading, drainage, utilities, and earthwork across some of the largest data center campuses currently in development.If you have been working on the consultant or EPC side and want to step into a developer role where you set the standards rather than respond to them, this is a significant move up in both scope and compensation.What you'll be doingLead civil due diligence for greenfield and conversion sites covering topography, drainage, utilities, soils, floodplain, and environmental constraintsDirect geotechnical investigations, scope RFPs, review boring programs, interpret reports, and assign design actionsIdentify civil cost risks and fatal flaws during site selectionDevelop and maintain civil basis of design, master specifications, and standard drawings across the campus portfolioManage external civil consultants from schematic through IFC, review deliverables, enforce standards, and track design quality and scheduleEstablish grading strategies, earthwork balance, and cut/fill sequences for large-scale campus developmentsStructure phased delivery including early work packages to accelerate critical pathCoordinate site utility routing: water, sewer, storm, and medium-voltage underground infrastructure including offsite tie-insLead civil permitting across jurisdictions: land disturbance, NPDES/SWPPP, floodplain (CLOMR/LOMR), environmental, and utility permitsCoordinate with state and local agencies, drainage authorities, and utility providersReview contractor submittals, RFIs, and field conditions; conduct site visits and manage civil change order scopeCoordinate civil closeout, as-builts, and acceptance with local authoritiesWhat we need from youDegree in Civil Engineering7+ years of civil engineering experience on large-scale site development projects "” data center, industrial, logistics, or power infrastructure preferredPE license or actively pursuing with expected completion within 12 monthsExperience directing external civil consultants and managing design deliverable qualityWorking knowledge of grading, earthwork, stormwater management, and site utility designFamiliarity with NPDES permitting, FEMA floodplain regulations, CLOMR/LOMR processes, and land disturbance permittingAutoCAD Civil 3D; GIS tools a plusComfortable with 20 to 30% travel across US project sitesGood to haveHyperscale data center, large-scale industrial, or energy infrastructure development backgroundFM Global site civil requirementsGeotechnical evaluation experienceExpansive clay soils, karst geology, or high water table site conditionsMISO/utility interconnection land and civil coordinationOwner/developer-side experienceCompensation and benefits$200,000 - $250,000 per year DOE, plus equityHealth, dental, and vision insuranceRetirement planGenerous PTOFor more information please contact: matthew.holden@
