The Village is accredited by the International Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its Adoptions, Foster Care, Mental Health, Wraparound, and Drop-In Center services. We deliver evidenced-based behavioral health services to children, youth and adults, and has long been at the forefront of culturally sensitive foster care and adoption services.We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatrist / Licensed Nurse Practitioner to join our team and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.POSITION DESCRIPTION: ThePsychiatrist or Licensed Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive psychiatric care for clients referred by therapists, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders. Prescribe and monitor medications, and long-acting injectables, order diagnostic tests, and manage medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Collaborates closely with therapists and multidisciplinary teams, participates in program meetings, and offers general consultation as well as support during crises. Coordinates hospital admissions and inpatient care when clinically indicated. Conducts field-based visits for clients unable or unwilling to attend clinic appointments. Ensures accurate documentation and compliance with Medical Board of California, Department of Mental Health (DMH) standards, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements. Actively engages in case reviews, provides psychoeducation to clients and families, and supports quality improvement initiatives. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS: California State Physician and surgeon's Certificate authorized by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of CaliforniaCompletion of a residency approved by an American Specialty Board in psychiatry or Equivalent training which the appropriate American Certifying Board formally recognizes in writing as being equivalentValid DEA LicenseMaintains Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) certification to prescribe Clozapine.Evaluates individuals/clients to determine if probable cause is met to initiate detention under WIC 5150Bilingual English/Spanish strongly desiredMaintains own professional liability insurance and acceptable child abuse and criminal clearances requiredCurrent California driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier.Prior experience in community mental health (preferred)Demonstrate medical/clinical leadership skills and experience in mental health service delivery to a broad-based individual and multi-cultural patient population including homelessness and addictionEffective verbal and written communication skillsPossess good computer skills; familiarity with MS Word and Outlook; demonstrated ability to utilize electronic progress note systemAdapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: All of the responsibilities listed below are considered essential functions of this position. Additionally, this position is expected to ensure adherence to the core operating values and the strategic direction of the agency.Performs psychiatric evaluations and screens for health-related concerns as neededDevelops comprehensive psychiatric treatment plansPerforms medication support services by evaluating the need for psychotropic medicationsPrescribes medications and monitors their overall effectMay administer medication(s), when necessaryOrders, obtains, reviews and monitors pertinent laboratory testsWorks closely as part of the treatment team within a multidisciplinary team approachProvides clinical consultation to other medical providers and staff regarding treatment interventions, medical and diagnostic work performed and participates in clinical case conferencesProvides follow-up and psychoeducation regarding medication and possible side effects, and is available in case of emergencies10. Completes and documents medication evaluations in compliance with DMH standards11. Coordinates treatment with hospital psychiatrist in case of hospitalization and facilitates hospital admissions when clinically indicated12. Provides field-based client visits for routine evaluations and for clients unable or unwilling to attend clinic visits13. Participates in regular utilization reviews of clinical charts and consultation with Therapists14. Assists in the planning, direction, and implementation of departmental initiatives and protocols to enhance and improve client care15. Participates in quality of care and provides input into formulating corrective action plans to mitigate future clinical risk16. May have to testify in court as an expert witness17. Possess the ability to interact, communicate, and display sensitivity to a diverse population of clients18. Ensure that all agency and contractual paperwork is properly completed EHRS, and that paperwork deadlines are met according to agency standards 19. Attend regularly scheduled agency wide meetings and other meetings as required or assigned 20. Conduct all functions in accordance with Agency guidelines, policies, and procedures 21. Comply with applicable professional licensing or approval requirements and ethics 22. Arrange work schedule or required hours to benefit of the program 23. Perform any other duties assigned that may be necessary for the best interest of the agency Physical Activity:Reaching, Standing, Typing, Talking, Hearing, Repetitive MotionSedentary work.
