We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Production Buyer to support purchasing and production activities for our threading machine manufacturing operation. This position is responsible for purchasing components, materials, and subassemblies used to build complex threading machines assembled at our facility.This is a full-time, on-site position located in Rockford, IL area. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to the facility daily. This position is responsible for purchasing components, materials, and subassemblies used in the assembly of complex threading machines built at our facility. The Production Buyer will work closely with the Purchasing Manager, vendors, assembly team, and the Service After Sales Department to help ensure materials are available to meet production schedules and customer needs. This role manages purchasing activities for approximately 1,000+ machine components and multi-level subassemblies within a manufacturing environment.In addition to purchasing responsibilities, this position will provide light administrative support for the Service After Sales Department, including assisting with documentation, order coordination, and communication related to replacement parts and service support activities. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, experience working with bills of materials (BOMs), and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Purchase raw materials, components, and subassemblies required for production of threading machinesassembled at the facility.• Manage procurement activities for approximately 1,000+ active machine components and related subassemblies.• Create and process purchase orders and monitor order confirmations and delivery schedules.• Maintain strong communication with vendors regarding pricing, lead times, delivery status, and order issues.• Follow up on late shipments, shortages, backorders, and supplier concerns to minimize production delays.• Coordinate with the assembly team and Purchasing Manager to ensure materials are available to supportproduction schedules.• Assist with maintaining accurate part information, vendor records, pricing, and purchasing data within Sage 100ERP.• Support purchasing activities related to multi-level bills of materials (BOMs) and subassemblies.• Process and maintain production-related transactions within Sage 100, including manually building completedmachines into the system once physical assembly is completed.• Review material requirements and assist in resolving supply issues impacting manufacturing operations.• Assist in identifying alternate suppliers and cost-saving opportunities when appropriate.• Provide light administrative support for the Service After Sales Department, including documentation, ordercoordination, and communication regarding replacement parts and service-related activities.• Communicate effectively with internal departments regarding material availability and purchasing updates.• Participate in inventory counts and related purchasing support activities as needed.• Follow company purchasing policies and procedures.Qualifications• Associate degree or equivalent work experience in purchasing, supply chain, manufacturing, or related field preferred.• 3-5 years of purchasing or buyer experience in a manufacturing environment required.• Experience working with complex bills of materials (BOMs) and multi-level assemblies strongly preferred.• Experience with ERP/MRP systems required; Sage 100 experience preferred.• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and supplier coordination.• Ability to manage large volumes of part numbers and detailed information accurately.• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.• Excellent communication and follow-up skills.• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Preferred Skills• Experience supporting assembly manufacturing operations.• Knowledge of mechanical components, fabricated parts, machined parts, or industrial equipment manufacturing.• Familiarity with forecasting, lead time planning, and supplier negotiations.• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Physical Requirements• Primarily office-based with regular interaction on the manufacturing floor.• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment.• Occasional lifting of files or small sample parts up to 25 pounds may be required.Work Environment• Manufacturing and office environment.• Frequent communication with vendors, warehouse personnel, assembly staff, and internal departments.• Fast-paced environment requiring strong attention to detail and deadline management.
