Salary: $80,000 - $140,000 (DOE)Location: Farmington Hills, MI OverviewA well-established commercial and industrial mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical / Plumbing Project Manager to join its growing team. This role will report directly to senior leadership and is responsible for managing multiple HVAC, piping, and plumbing projects from pre-construction through completion.The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, proven project management experience, and the ability to lead teams while maintaining budgets, schedules, and safety standards.Key ResponsibilitiesManage all aspects of assigned mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC projectsSet up and maintain projects in management software, including creating schedules of values (SOV)Review awarded contracts to ensure alignment with estimates, scope, and financial expectationsCollect, review, and distribute material submittalsDevelop project-specific documentation and information booksInterpret and analyze mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing drawings and specificationsProcure and manage vendors and subcontractorsAttend and lead weekly project progress meetings to coordinate schedules and workflowsPlan and coordinate labor, supervision, subcontractors, materials, and logisticsSupport field leadership in enforcing and maintaining safety protocolsSupervise internal teams and subcontractors throughout project executionManage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining timelines and budgetsPrepare, track, and process change orders accurately and in a timely mannerIdentify and support new business opportunities with existing and prospective clientsCollaborate with internal teams across divisions to ensure project successQualificationsMinimum 5+ years of project management experience in mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC constructionStrong ability to communicate with clients, construction managers, subcontractors, and field teamsProficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical specificationsSolid understanding of construction methods, processes, and project lifecycleEducation & ExperiencePrior experience as a Project Manager is requiredDegree or certification in Construction Management or related field is a plus, but not requiredCore CompetenciesSafety First: Consistently prioritizes safe planning, communication, and executionIntegrity: Demonstrates accountability and follows through on commitmentsCollaboration: Builds strong relationships and seeks solutions that benefit all stakeholdersExcellence: Maintains a high standard of professionalism and performancePositive Attitude: Contributes energy, teamwork, and a solutions-oriented mindsetInternal Notes: Danboise Notes:Ideally looking for local but willing to consider and would offer relocation to GREAT candidatePTO Based on experience - lighter experience starts at normal 2 weeks, more experienced can be at 4 weeks off the bat.Health, Dental, Vision, HSA - portion paid by companyShort/Long Term Disability and Life Insurance 401K with 6% matchBonus - Based on company profitability (has ranged from 6%-14%)No official set schedule, but just ask and try to stick to one (may depend on project)Big on work life balance and not having folks burnout. Understand life happens and will have opportunities to work from home if needed (sick, etc..) Just not taken advantage of and don't want broadcasted. Similar to us, will work with you when needed, but prefer onsite60/40 - 75/25 worksite vs HQDon't want to promise or broadcast, but various travel options benefits. (they'd like to use for negations)Will manage 10-15 Projects ranging from half a million to $3-$4 Million. Fitting in the commercial category, but growing larger dealsTeam sizes can range from 2-20 depending on project sizeCommercial properties are 60% new builds, 40% RetroVery important that these folks are Honest about their ability to perform a submittal process. Don't bluff, they will train if needed, but will lower the offer price on a candidate that is inexperienced Much be able to read BlueprintsMechanical and plumbing experience is the largest requirement, will be able to train on other focuses for the role, but the mechanical and plumbing side would be the hardest to catch on to Spectrum project management software, switching to BuildOps with time Confidence and excitement in the interview process will be big. Communication is a key part to the role as they will be client-facing heavily.
