We are a service company that offers both technical and social products and services for urban and rural operations. We are currently operating in various states throughout North America with plans to continue to expand over the next few years. Being a small business, it is all hands-on deck! Urban's team offers a wide range of skills and collectively has over 80 years' experience in the energy sector including oil & natural gas, renewable natural gas, power generation, mining, and renewable energy; with expertise in project development operations ranging from 50,000hp compressor stations, to 600MW cryptocurrency installations and 12MW solar energy projects. Core services include field mitigation products, acoustical engineering modeling and monitoring and Urban's NavPlanIQ Software. Software services include stakeholder engagement and grievance management tracking to support project permit and execution efforts as well as a central hosting location for all Urban acoustic engineering services among other features. Our team is highly skilled in providing cost effective solutions, through strategic planning for execution of large-scale operations in urban areas. Job Summary: Urban is seeking a dynamic Director of Finance and Accounting to join the team. We are looking for a motivated, experienced, high-performing, self-starter. Must be a creative thinker/problem solver while collaborative across multiple business units while displaying leadership qualities. This position will report directly to the CEO. It will have exposure to core business strategy as well as the ability to realize an immediate impact upon key value drivers. The Director of Finance and Accounting will work with all cross-functional teams within Urban to strategically align sales objectives and business goals. Job duties consist of but are not limited to:· Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions and cashflow management Coordinating the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business resultsCoordinating and preparing internal and external financial statementsCoordinating activities of external auditors and internal work associated with various financial and company policy audits and renewals· Monitoring all transactions and prepare appropriate reporting for sameSteward for chart of accounts/codingAssessing current accounting operations and internal control systems, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processesOverseeing regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance requirements Treasury ManagementOversee and track full-cycle A/P and A/R processes Direct all back-office functions as neededManaging external finance and accounting support vendors Primary contact for Investor Relations and Bank Relations Coordinating and compiling quarterly Board of Directors meeting content Facilitating monthly investor distributions Responsible for annual budget and forecasting (with support of team)Responsible for monthly and quarterly budget comparison to actuals and variance analysis Contributing to vendor contracts and management Supporting annual vendor and customer procurement evaluations and negotiations with necessary analysis Developing business analysis tools and reporting capabilitiesWorking with management to prioritize business and information needsIdentifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets across various business units Supporting ad-hoc analysis requests from VP and CEOProviding management with information vital to the decision-making processConducting thorough job cost analysis for all customer projects and vendor costs Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systemsResponsible for coordinating and implementing employee benefitsOversight of payroll preparation, changes and execution by payroll service company (ADP)Contributor to employee reviews, hiring and onboarding efforts Requirements: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance Minimum 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience 5+ years of professional experience in FP&A, business analysis or comparable analytics positionExperience with evaluating team members and building/leading teamsAdept at queries, report writing and presenting findingsUnparalleled work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations Advanced analytical skills and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environmentAble to build and manage models for problem-solving, variance analysis, and business budgeting/forecastingExcellent at executing administrative and clerical functions independently and efficientlySuperior communication and presentation skills, written and oralKnowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting, banking operations, and reporting Be capable of monitoring existing metrics, analyzing data, and independently driving business changeHave relevant technical experience to analyze complex datasets (Power BI, SQL, etc.)High proficiency in ExcelProficiency in QuickBooksPreferred:MBA or CPAExperience managing accounting staff and/or vendors for outsourcing accounting needsExperience with employee benefits management Urban Culture:· Work hard - play hard!· We are a team, and we always aim to support each other· Casual work environment and dress · Large outdoor patio for team and group gatherings to enjoy the outdoors and the occasional happy hour· Must love dogs (or at least like them as they are in the office often)· Bottom line - we are in it together!Benefits you will enjoy at Urban: · Annual salary · Annual bonus opportunity · Medical, dental and vision insurance · 401(k) matching · Flexible Time Off and Flexible Schedule · Cell phone and wellness reimbursement · Working with a Super-Cool team and a company that values its employees!
