We are looking for intellectually curious problem-solvers who value collaboration, continuous learning, and clear communication to join our positively charged culture.Role OverviewPurple Jay is seeking a highly motivated Junior Product Owner to join our team in support of a multi-year cyber transformation effort for a Federal client. Aligned with the USDS TechFAR principles, you will work collaboratively with Senior Product Owners and our Development Team to bridge the gap between user needs and technical execution.This role is perfect for someone with foundational product or business analysis experience who is ready to level up. You will manage tactical backlog items, write testable user stories, and learn how to translate complex federal compliance workflows into actionable development tasks. You will also play a critical role in our ADOPT model, helping federal customers shift from a "compliance checklist" mindset to utilizing risk-enabled security tools effectively.Key ResponsibilitiesBacklog Management & Story Creation: Create, prioritize, and consistently groom the product backlog. Write clear, concise, and testable user stories, collaborating with senior team members on more complex federal compliance requirements.Agile Execution: Actively participate in Agile meetings (Sprint Planning, Scrums, Sprint Review, Retrospective). Provide guidance and clarification to the Development Team.Federal Client Collaboration: Learn and apply federal InfoSec standards (FedRAMP, NIST RMF). Work alongside client stakeholders"”including users and subject matter experts"”to map their specific workflows and challenges.Stakeholder Management: Serve as a point of contact for stakeholders regarding product features. Gather user feedback, analyze data, and communicate product updates to ensure alignment with the overarching strategic vision.Driving Intuitiveness & Testing: Champion the usability of our digital solutions to ensure they are intuitive, compliant, and seamlessly adopted. Actively participate in product testing to validate feature functionality and the end-user experience.Required Qualifications 1-4 years of hands-on experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or in a similar Agile delivery role.Experience using Agile project management tools (e.g., GitLab, Jira).Proven ability to gather requirements, write effective user stories, and manage a product backlog. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills under pressure.Experience working in a regulated, compliance-heavy, or enterprise environment, with a strong willingness to learn Federal Government compliance frameworks.Experience with user research and usability testing.Bonus / Preferred QualificationsExperience working specifically with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or a baseline understanding of federal environments.Agile Certifications: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), or SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM).Why Purple Jay?We are all about the benefits!
