Akkodis is seeking aSr. Embedded Software Engineer - HIL for a contract role with a client in San Jose, CA.Location: San Jose, CA, Hybrid - ideally onsite all week as it is a hands-on team; however, occasional WFH is allowed. Primary days in the office are Tue-Thu.Duration: 9 Months Contract + Possible Extension Pay Range: $95-$100 per hour on W2. The rate may be negotiable based on factors such as experience, education, geographic location, and other relevant considerations.NOTES:-Must have embedded and HIL setup experience-Team supporting next-generation vehicles supporting RVTech-2 will focus on Audi and 2 on VW - could be either-Every day at 6/7 am, regular calls with the German team-will work with many teams located in Egypt, Jerusalem, Europe, India, etc.-Need to be good problem solvers-Each week will have 3-8 ECUs to debug software - not black box but source code debugging-need vector canoe exp; FTP, HW debugging, SQL, wire diagram reading expertise, scripting/Python, understand CAN / Ethernet-jack of all trades - know ECUs on many levels-The idea is that all 4 many bring different skills to the table, and he will look at how they complement one another to make a cohesive team.-not much travel; occasional 1-2x year go to Irvine.Job Description:IRole DescriptionThe focus of this role is to find, reproduce, and debug software and hardware issues and derive regression tests for AUDI, Porsche, and VW ECUs. This role will support the setup, configuration, and maintenance of HIL setups for ADAS and autonomous driving systems. Structured troubleshooting and strong coordination skills are important. This position collaborates with teams in multiple countries and time zones and therefore may require availability during early morning or late evening hours.IIRole ResponsibilitiesDebug software, hardware, and communication issues across ECUs and interfacesImplement bug fixes or configuration updatesDefine regression tests where applicableReproduce and document bugsDevelop and maintain comprehensive documentation while using version control systemsSupport setup and configuration of HIL setups with multiple ECUs and sensorsWork with wiring diagrams, communication networks-- Define HIL system architectureConfigure real-time simulation tools (e.g., Vector CANoe)III Required SkillsProficiency in C/C++ and Python in automotive or robotics domainsStrong analytical and conceptual problem-solving capabilitiesEffective planning, organization, and time managementExcellent communication skills and collaborative mindsetComfortable working in ambiguous, fast paced environments paced environmentsSolid understanding of embedded systemsAbility to troubleshoot software, communication, and hardware issuesExperience reading wiring diagrams, schematics, and signal tracesFamiliarity with scripting (Python, CAPL, or similar)Good understanding of network communication protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP)IV Desired SkillsKnowledge of CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and automotive EthernetExperience building or maintaining HIL environmentsFamiliarity with Vector Tools (e.g. CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape)Experience with diagnostics, flashing, calibration tools, and embedded test benches, JTAG debugging, DoIPFamiliarity with RTOS-based systems (FreeRTOS, QNX, or similar)Understanding of ADAS/AD systemsExposure to CI/CD (e.g., Gitlab, Jenkins)Basic experience with power distribution and ECU hardware constraintsExperience with Jira, Codebeamer, or similarV.
