Lead Embedded Software EngineerLocation: Pittsburgh, PA - On SiteType: Full-TimeLevel: Lead / SeniorIndustry: Advanced Embedded EngineeringAbout the RoleWe're looking for a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to guide a small, high-performing team building low-level software for space-grade systems. You'll own the full embedded software lifecycle, from architecture and development through integration, testing, and delivery, while mentoring engineers and shaping the technical direction of the team.This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll contribute code, drive engineering standards, and help deliver reliable software for mission-critical space applications.What You'll DoLead and mentor a team of embedded software engineers through the full development lifecycleDesign, develop, test, and debug low-level embedded software for space systemsGuide the team through architecture decisions, code reviews, and best practicesSupport integration and testing, including writing and executing unit testsWork within an agile development environment and contribute to sprint planningCollaborate with hardware, systems, and mission teams to ensure seamless integrationProvide coaching, regular 1:1s, and input into performance evaluationsContribute to documentation, technical reviews, and continuous improvement initiativesRequired ExperienceStrong background developing embedded software for real-time, deterministic systemsProficiency in C, C++, and PythonExperience with software integration, debugging, and unit testingComfortable working across Windows and Linux development environmentsExperience in agile development workflowsMinimum 5 years of relevant engineering experienceDegree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldPreferred Skills(Not required, but highly valuable)Experience with Linux board support packagesYocto or similar build system experienceBare-metal developmentExperience developing hardware or embedded systems for advanced applicationsExperience with embedded instrumentationExport Control RequirementDue to U.S. Government space technology regulations (ITAR/EAR), candidates must be:A U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident,A protected individual (as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)),Or otherwise eligible to obtain required authorisations.
