HVAC Estimator

Position: HVAC EstimatorLocation: Ferndale, MICompany: Fontanesi & Kann Company · Central States HVAC, a division of Impact Climate TechnologiesAbout the Role:Fontanesi & Kann Company Central States HVAC, a division of Impact Climate Technologies is seeking a skilled HVAC Estimator to support our growing portfolio of commercial and industrial mechanical projects. This individual will be responsible for accurately analyzing drawings, specifications, and related documents to develop complete and competitive project estimates. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.Key Responsibilities:Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and addenda for HVAC scope and prepare comprehensive cost estimatesSolicit and evaluate vendor/supplier pricing and material takeoffsPrepare proposals, budgets, and bid documentation for internal and external useCollaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales staff to ensure alignment on project scope and design intentTrack and update historical cost data for future use and continuous improvementAssist in value engineering and identifying cost-saving alternativesQualifications:3+ years of experience in HVAC estimatingProficiency in reading mechanical plans, specifications, and related construction documentsStrong working knowledge of HVAC materials, equipment, and laborExperience using estimating software (e.g., Quick Bid, Bluebeam, Excel, or equivalent tools)High attention to detail and strong organizational skillsExcellent verbal and written communicationAbility to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple prioritiesExperience estimating in commercial, institutional, or industrial HVAC environmentsFamiliarity with local competitors such as Michigan Air Products or similarAssociates or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent field experience)Compensation & Benefits:Competitive salary based on experienceFull benefits package including PTO, health, dental, vision, and 401(k), FSAOpportunities for growth within a well-established, respected, and expanding HVAC firm
