Concentrated in River North, Friedman Properties has used historic preservation and adaptive re-use as a catalyst to transform the once neglected neighborhood into the city's most desirable 24-hour live/work/play destinations.We are seeking a proactive and experienced General Counsel to manage all legal matters and risks. This will include the overall management of legal department, resource allocation, and legal strategy while providing direction and ensuring compliance with high quality standards. Candidates must be independent critical thinkers who can work in a challenging fast-paced environment and capable of juggling a multitude of simultaneous projects.Responsibilities:• The focus of this role is to examine, interpret, negotiate and generate Lease Documents and abstracts.• Examine, negotiate and generate Purchase and Sale Agreements• Examine, negotiate and generate Construction/Financing and Architectural Contracts• Examine, negotiate and generate loan documentation and closing documents• Review construction draws and escrow agreements• Structure Partnership Agreements and Joint Ventures• General FPL legal matters• Coordination of outside law firms (RE tax appeal, litigation, Federal Tax, Zoning and other)• General Legal correspondence• Personal legal work of stakeholdersRequirements:• Juris Doctorate Law Degree• Bachelor's Degree• Minimum 10-12 years of legal experience in the practice of real estate• Sound knowledge, understanding and interpretation of applicable laws, regulations, statutes pertaining to real estate• Proficiency legal experience in a wide range of real estate contracts and documents• Strong, effective communication skills with an ability to plan and organize a team effort.• Highly motivated collaborative self-starter with effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
