About Eagle WirelessEagle Wireless is a connectivity company delivering secure, reliable, and scalable cellular modules and solutions for automotive and IoT applications. With manufacturing operations in Solon, OH and Penang, Malaysia, and R&D teams across North America, Europe, and APAC, Eagle Wireless supports customers worldwide with long-life, compliant, and cyber-secure connectivity products. Our portfolio spans automotive telematics modules designed to IATF 16949 and AEC-Q grade standards, and industrial IoT modules across LTE-M, NB-IoT, and 5G technologies. Eagle Wireless is currently expanding its manufacturing footprint with a new factory under construction in Solon, Ohio "” adding to its existing manufacturing operations in Solon, OH and Penang, Malaysia "” with initial production targeted for 2027. Focused on supply chain resilience, regulatory compliance, and customer trust, Eagle Wireless helps OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and IoT innovators deploy connected technologies with confidence in an increasingly complex global environment.Role OverviewThe Hardware Engineer is an early-career engineering role within Eagle's global R&D organization, working alongside senior hardware engineers and reporting into the R&D leadership team. You will contribute to the design, testing, and validation of cellular IoT and automotive connectivity modules "” learning the full hardware development lifecycle from schematic capture through regulatory certification on real, production-bound products. This is a hands-on role with broad exposure: you will work across RF, power, and digital hardware domains, collaborate with firmware engineers, and interface with manufacturing and quality teams at Eagle's Solon facility. Eagle is a small, fast-moving company, which means early-career engineers here get real ownership and visibility far sooner than they would at a large organization. We are looking for someone who is technically sharp, genuinely curious about cellular and RF hardware, and already building habits around using AI tools to work smarter. This position is based in the Solon, OH area or Minneapolis, MN area.Main ResponsibilitiesHardware Design Support• Assist senior engineers with schematic capture and PCB layout for cellular IoT and automotive module designs.• Perform design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) reviews under senior engineer guidance.• Support hardware bring-up activities: bench setup, power sequencing verification, and initial functionality checks on new module prototypes.• Maintain accurate design documentation, BOMs, schematic revision logs, and test records to production standards.• Assist with component selection, datasheet review, and vendor part evaluation for new designs.Testing & Validation• Execute hardware test plans covering RF performance, power consumption, thermal behavior, and basic signal integrity.• Set up and operate lab equipment including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.• Log, track, and document hardware defects; participate in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts.• Support regulatory pre-compliance testing activities (FCC, CE, PTCRB) and assist senior engineers during formal certification runs.• Write and maintain test scripts and automated validation routines, leveraging AI tools to accelerate script development.AI-Assisted Engineering• Use AI tools actively in day-to-day engineering tasks: drafting test plans, summarizing datasheet content, generating test scripts, and producing failure analysis write-ups.• Apply AI-assisted tools for PCB design rule checks, signal integrity review, and documentation generation under senior engineer supervision.• Stay current on AI tooling relevant to hardware engineering and share practical findings with the team.Collaboration & Learning• Work closely with senior hardware engineers, firmware engineers, and manufacturing teams on shared development programs.• Participate in design reviews, bring-up sessions, and qualification milestone reviews.• Coordinate with global engineering teams in Penang, Belgrade, and Germany on assigned tasks within shared development programs.• Support customer-facing technical activities including test report preparation and design-in documentation under senior engineer guidance.Required Qualifications• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. MS a plus.• 0-3 years of hardware engineering experience; internship or co-op experience in electronics, RF, or embedded hardware design considered.• Foundational knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, PCB layout principles, and signal integrity basics.• Exposure to schematic capture or PCB layout tools (Altium, KiCad, Eagle, or equivalent) through coursework, projects, or work experience.• Familiarity with bench lab equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and basic RF test equipment.• Demonstrated use of AI tools in engineering or academic work "” actual practice, not just awareness.• Strong analytical mindset and structured approach to debugging and problem-solving.• Good written and verbal communication skills; able to document work clearly and concisely.• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Solon, OH or Minneapolis, MN area.Preferred Qualifications• Coursework or project experience in RF circuits, antenna design, wireless communications, or microwave engineering.• Hands-on experience with cellular or wireless modules (LTE, LTE-M, NB-IoT, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) in a design or evaluation context.• Familiarity with cellular chipset platforms such as Qualcomm, MediaTek, or Nordic Semiconductor.• Experience writing test scripts in Python, MATLAB, or similar for hardware validation or data analysis.• Exposure to automotive electronics standards (AEC-Q100, ISO 26262) through coursework or prior employment.• Familiarity with version control and engineering data management tools (Git, Altium Vault, or similar).• Exposure to Cadence EDA tools, including OrCAD for schematic capture and/or Allegro for PCB layout, is a plus.• Prior internship or project experience at a hardware company, electronics manufacturer, or research lab.• Interest in or exposure to AI-assisted EDA tools, simulation environments, or hardware design automation. What We Offer• Real engineering ownership from day one "” Eagle is a small, fast-moving company where early-career engineers work on production hardware, not isolated sub-tasks.• Direct mentorship from senior hardware engineers and R&D leadership, with structured opportunities to grow toward senior and lead engineer roles.• Broad technical exposure across RF, power, digital hardware, firmware interfaces, manufacturing, and regulatory certification "” the full cellular module development stack.• The opportunity to contribute to a new Eagle-owned factory currently under construction in Solon "” a rare chance to help shape engineering and quality processes in a greenfield facility.• International environment and open culture: we communicate directly, assess ourselves honestly, and enjoy working as a team across North America, Europe, and APAC.• Continuous learning and "on the job" development: we invest in our people and actively support career growth.• Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus a profit share scheme tied to company performance.• Comprehensive health care coverage and other competitive benefits.• Social and employee events including an annual team building trip.Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
