Customs Entry Writer | Houston, TX | Salary up to $70,000To support daily import operations and ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations. This role is responsible for preparing and submitting accurate customs entries, coordinating with government agencies, and working closely with customers, carriers, and internal operations teams to facilitate timely cargo clearance.The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of U.S. import procedures, excellent attention to detail, and experience working in a fast-paced freight forwarding or customs brokerage environment.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary up to $70,000 based on experienceMedical, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and company holidays401(k) with company matchKey ResponsibilitiesPrepare and transmit customs entries for ocean, air, and ground shipments through ABI systemsReview commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and related import documentation for accuracy and complianceClassify products using HTS codes and determine applicable duties, taxes, and feesCoordinate cargo clearance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs)Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve customs holds, exams, and documentation discrepanciesMaintain compliance with all federal import regulations and company SOPsCommunicate with clients regarding entry requirements, shipment updates, and customs-related issuesWork closely with operations, warehousing, and transportation teams to ensure timely deliveryMaintain accurate records in accordance with customs regulations and company policiesSupport audits, reporting, and compliance reviews as neededQualificationsMinimum 2-5 years of experience as a Customs Entry Writer within a freight forwarder or customs brokerage environmentStrong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and import compliance proceduresExperience using ABI software and customs brokerage systemsFamiliarity with ocean and air import documentationExcellent organizational skills and high attention to detailAbility to manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentCustoms Broker License preferred but not required
