Financial Controller

A company in the defense industry is seeking an experienced Controller to lead both the accounting and finance functions in a hands-on capacity. This role will oversee a small team and be responsible for financial reporting, analysis, job costing, and government accounting activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong industry knowledge, leadership ability, and experience operating in a regulated environment. This is a fully in-office position. Deltek Costpoint experience is a plus. Based on general knowledge.Key Responsibilities:Oversee and mentor a small accounting and finance team while remaining actively involved in daily operations. Based on general knowledge.Manage the accounting function, including general ledger oversight, reconciliations, close processes, and financial statement preparation. Based on general knowledge.Lead finance-related activities, including financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and business performance review. Based on general knowledge.Support and oversee job costing processes, contract accounting, and cost analysis to ensure accurate project and program reporting. Based on general knowledge.Manage government accounting requirements and support compliance with applicable regulations and reporting standards. Based on general knowledge.Help ensure adherence to SOX compliance requirements, internal controls, and financial policies. Based on general knowledge.Partner with leadership to provide financial insights, reporting, and recommendations to support decision-making. Based on general knowledge.Coordinate audits and support external reporting and compliance-related requests. Based on general knowledge.Utilize ERP and financial systems to improve reporting efficiency and accuracy; Deltek Costpoint experience is a plus. Based on general knowledge.Qualifications:7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility. Based on general knowledge.Prior experience in the defense industry required. Based on general knowledge.Strong background in both accounting and finance, including financial reporting, analysis, and close management. Based on general knowledge.Experience with job costing, government accounting, and SOX compliance required. Based on general knowledge.Experience managing or mentoring a small team preferred. Based on general knowledge.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Based on general knowledge.CPA or CMA is a plus. Based on general knowledge.Experience with Deltek Costpoint is a plus. Based on general knowledge.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
