Job Description

Title: Mechanical EngineerLocation: Perry Nuclear, Davis Besse, and/or Beaver ValleyDuration: 11+ monthsPay Range: $85 - $100/hour (depending on experience)Per Diem: $178/dayTarget Start Date / Availability: ASAPWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support modification projects at operating commercial nuclear power plants. This individual will be responsible for engineering design, analysis, and implementation support associated with plant modifications, system upgrades, and capital improvement projects within a highly regulated nuclear environment.The ideal candidate will have experience supporting mechanical system modifications at operating nuclear facilities and be familiar with formal engineering change processes, design control requirements, and nuclear quality standards.ResponsibilitiesPerform mechanical engineering design and analysis in support of plant modifications, upgrades, and capital projects at operating nuclear facilitiesDevelop and review engineering calculations, technical evaluations, and design documentationPrepare design deliverables including modification packages, specifications, equipment data sheets, and mechanical drawingsEvaluate existing plant mechanical systems and develop design solutions to improve safety, reliability, maintainability, and performanceSupport modifications involving piping systems, valves, pumps, heat exchangers, HVAC systems, and balance of plant equipmentPerform engineering assessments related to pressure boundary integrity, thermal and hydraulic performance, equipment sizing, and system operabilityCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including electrical, I&C, civil, and operations personnelSupport engineering change processes and ensure compliance with plant procedures, licensing basis requirements, and regulatory standardsInterface with clients, plant personnel, and project teams to define technical scope and resolve engineering issuesProvide field engineering support during installation, testing, startup, and turnover activitiesParticipate in design reviews, verification activities, and quality assurance processesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited programMinimum 10 years of engineering experience, including at least 4 years within a commercial nuclear power environmentExperience supporting mechanical design and analysis for operating plant modifications and upgrade projectsStrong understanding of mechanical systems commonly found in nuclear generating stationsExperience developing engineering calculations, feasibility studies, technical evaluations, and modification packagesAbility to read and interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics, mechanical drawings, and system flow diagramsFamiliarity with ASME codes, NRC requirements, and industry standards applicable to nuclear plant mechanical systemsExperience working within formal design control programs, configuration management processes, and nuclear quality requirementsAbility to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams in an operating plant environmentPreferred ExperienceExperience supporting safety related or risk significant system modificationsFamiliarity with plant outage support and online modification implementationExperience performing pipe stress analysis, equipment sizing, or thermal hydraulic evaluationsExposure to field walkdowns, installation support, testing, and startup activitiesProfessional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtainFootBridge is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive environment where everyone is valued and respected.
