Access & Reimbursement Manager (Field-Based) - Specialty TherapiesTerritory: Ohio / MichiganPreferred home-base areas: Dayton, OH and/or East Lansing, MI, and/or Ft. Wayne, IN (or within reasonable driving distance)About the RoleWe are partnering with a leading, innovation-driven pharmaceutical organization to identify a field-based Access & Reimbursement Manager supporting a specialty portfolio.This role is critical in ensuring patient access and a seamless customer experience, with a strong focus on reimbursement strategy, education, and prescription pull-through. The position has evolved from a predominantly reactive, case-management approach into a highly proactive, field-based role, emphasizing in-person engagement, trend identification, and process optimization across key accounts.The role serves as the regional subject matter expert on reimbursement, prior authorizations, coding, specialty pharmacy distribution models, and patient access considerations across complex specialty therapies (e.g., rare disease, women's health, psychiatry, neurology, immunology, rheumatology etc).Territory & Location RequirementsThis role supports accounts across Kentucky and Indiana and requires candidates to reside within the territory.Preferred locations include:Dayton, OHEast Lansing, MIFt. Wayne, INOther major metropolitan areas within the territoryCandidates must be able to travel regularly to key accounts within the region.What You'll DoServe as the regional expert in access and reimbursement, including payer policy, prior authorization requirements, coding, and specialty pharmacy distribution pathwaysPartner closely with ~5-10 field-based Account Managers to support priority accounts across the territoryEngage healthcare providers, office personnel, and key stakeholders through in-person and virtual interactionsEducate stakeholders involved in the prescription fulfillment process, including:Proper script submission and routingNavigating prior authorization requirementse-Prescribing workflows and platforms (e.g., CoverMyMeds)Setting expectations with patients regarding access and fulfillmentSupport and optimize prescription pull-through, ensuring efficient movement through reimbursement and dispensing pathwaysIdentify patterns, trends, and systemic barriers impacting access, and implement proactive, account-level solutionsTransition accounts from reactive issue resolution to proactive access management and planningCollaborate cross-functionally (e.g., patient services, payer, trade, specialty pharmacy partners) to resolve access challenges and improve patient outcomesDeliver in-person and virtual presentations and training on:Coverage and reimbursement processesPayer dynamics (commercial and government)Specialty pharmacy models and workflowsProvide practical and technical guidance to healthcare providers to anticipate and resolve reimbursement challengesEnsure all activities are conducted in full compliance with applicable regulations and company policiesRole Structure & ExpectationsField-based role with ~60% travel, with strong emphasis on in-person customer engagementBalanced mix of in-person (~60%) and virtual (~40%) interactionsCollaborative model supporting multiple field partnersFocus on priority and high-opportunity accounts, driven by evolving regional trendsWhat We're Looking ForBachelor's degree required (Business, Healthcare, Communications, Marketing, or related field preferred)~7+ years of total professional experienceMinimum 5+ years in access & reimbursement, field reimbursement, or related rolesStrong expertise in:Prior authorization processes and payer policy navigatione-Prescribing workflowsSpecialty pharmacy, HUB, and patient support service modelsReimbursement fundamentals (coding, coverage, and payment)Strong understanding of commercial and government payer structures (including Medicaid)Experience supporting therapies with complex reimbursement pathways and/or specialty distribution modelsBackground in specialty pharmaceutical / biotech environments (e.g., rare disease, neurology, psychiatry, women's health, immunology, rheumatology preferred)Proven ability to succeed in a field-based, customer-facing role with strong relationship management skillsDemonstrated ability to:Navigate complex access challengesIdentify and solve systemic issues proactivelyBuild credibility with healthcare providers and office staffStrong communication and presentation skills, with ability to engage a wide range of stakeholdersCollaborative, resourceful, and adaptable in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentConfidential SearchThis is a confidential search conducted on behalf of our client.
