We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Fire Investigator to conduct origin and cause investigations on behalf of attorneys and insurance companies. This role involves fieldwork, evidence documentation, report writing, and timely submission of findings. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and comfortable working both independently in the field and collaboratively with clients.Key Responsibilities:Conduct fire and explosion investigations to determine origin and causeTravel to fire scenes using a company-provided vehicleDocument scenes through photographs, sketches, and detailed notesCollect, preserve, and analyze physical evidence in accordance with industry standardsCollaborate with attorneys, insurance adjusters, and other stakeholdersPrepare clear, accurate, and defensible written reports for clientsSubmit all reports, documentation, and case materials in a timely mannerMaintain organized case files and adhere to deadlinesTestify in depositions or court proceedings as needed (if applicable)Stay current with industry standards, codes, and best practicesQualifications:Required: Current certification as a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) through the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI) or Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) through the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI)Prior experience in fire investigation, law enforcement, insurance investigations, or related field preferredKnowledge of fire science, fire behavior, and investigative techniquesFamiliarity with NFPA 921 and other relevant standards is a plusStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneouslyValid driver's license and clean driving recordWillingness to travel locally and occasionally long-distanceSkills & Competencies:Strong attention to detailCritical thinking and analytical skillsTime management and organizational abilityProfessionalism when interacting with clients and stakeholdersAbility to work in potentially hazardous environmentsWork Environment:Combination of fieldwork and office/report writingExposure to fire-damaged structures and outdoor conditionsUse of a company vehicle for travel to the investigation sites outfitted with tools and equipmentCompany iPad and iPhone providedStrong Culture with focus on employee satisfaction and retentionCompensation & Benefits:Competitive salary (negotiable based on experience)Company vehicle provided for fieldworkPTO, 401(k) with 3% matching, Health/Vision/Dental covered 100% (only for full time employees), frequent company outings
