Senior Landscape Architect

Asakura Robinson is seeking a senior landscape architect to join our team with a focus on community-based and public-facing projects. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, mission-driven landscape architect who demonstrates strong design acumen, solid technical skills, and a deep interest in working with historically under-served communities and environmental and social ecosystems.This is an opportunity to work with other senior staff to lead a strong and creative office culture and contribute to building meaningful projects that shape public space, restore ecological systems, and empower communities.We are looking for someone who is:Passionate about design and dedicated as a professional designer, experienced in leading a design team in mission and goal-driven projects to successful outcomesAttentive and excited to lead the team in the integrity of professional craftsmanshipDrawn to and participation in the arts and culture scenes, and encouraging others to explore more creative and innovative thinkingConcerned and involved in social and environmental issues surrounding our communities, leading the conversations in the team and the communityActive in professional organizations, presenting and sharing ideas and professional experiences, guiding the organizationsEngaged in communities, especially those historically marginalized or under-served, to understand and be trusted in the communities as a contributorUnderstanding of challenges facing the profession and seeking new ideas to bring opportunitiesRooted in a teamwork environment to solve problemsDemonstrating entrepreneurial understanding of managing the consulting-based design businessCreative, collaborative leader, and able to contribute to our improvisational and transdisciplinary teamwork environmentExcellent in critical thinking and organizational skillsExcellent in people skills, empathetic, with a high degree of emotional intelligence and reciprocity thinking as a leaderStrongly self-motivated, energetic, responsible, reliable, flexible, and resourcefulSkills, Requirements, and Responsibilities:Bachelor's or Master's in Landscape Architecture or related field10+ years of professional experience in landscape architectureProficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe CC Suite, and rendering software (SketchUp, Rhino, Lumion, etc.)Strong graphic communication and conceptual design skillsWorking knowledge of sustainable communities and green infrastructure practiceWorking knowledge of landscape design and construction; technically proficient with experience in construction documentation and detailingExperience in community engagement, participatory design, or public realm projects is a strong plusExperience in project and design studio managementExperience in client managementExperience mentoring junior staffExcellent writing skills: reports, white paper presentation and other publicationsExperience in successful business development, public presentations, and interviewsLicensure in Landscape ArchitectureBilingual abilities desiredFluency in written and spoken English is required
