Director of Human ResourcesSage Solutions Group | Metro Detroit | On-Site Sage Solutions Group is growing, and we are looking for an experienced HR Director to lead our HR consulting team and partner directly with clients and executive leadership.This role is for a seasoned HR professional who understands both the strategy and the hands-on realities of human resources. You've led people. You've navigated complex employee relations issues. You know compliance inside and out. And you believe strong HR practices should make organizations healthier, stronger, and more effective.As our HR Director, you will guide our internal HR team while serving as a senior advisor to clients across a variety of industries. You will report directly to the CEO and play a key role in shaping the direction of our firm.Position OverviewThe HR Director provides leadership, direction, and oversight to Sage's HR Generalists, Managers, and Assistant Directors, while ensuring exceptional service delivery to assigned clients.This position requires strong judgment, discretion, and the ability to confidently navigate sensitive matters. You will balance strategic leadership with operational oversight, ensuring our clients receive practical, compliant, and high-quality HR support.Key ResponsibilitiesClient OversightServe as a high-level HR partner to assigned client organizationsLead and support workplace investigations, corrective actions, and terminationsEnsure client policies and procedures align with current employment laws and best practicesOversee HRIS implementation and system optimizationIdentify areas of HR opportunity and recommend expanded or enhanced servicesEnsure contractual obligations are fulfilled with accuracy and professionalismTeam LeadershipSupervise and mentor HR Generalists, Managers, and Assistant DirectorsConduct regular check-ins and provide coaching and developmentAct as a resource and escalation point for complex employee relations mattersSupport professional growth and competency development across the HR teamOrganizational DevelopmentAllocate team resources to ensure client work is completed efficiently and effectivelyDevelop and refine internal SOPs and workflowsPartner with executive leadership on company initiatives and strategic planningIdentify and implement process improvements to strengthen service deliveryFirm ResponsibilitiesLead weekly HR team meetings and internal trainingMaintain daily billing oversight and communication with leadershipTravel to Metro Detroit client sites as neededMaintain on-call availability for client and team supportQualificationsBachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related fieldMinimum 8 years of progressive HR experienceAt least 5+ years of experience as an HR ManagerMinimum 2 years leading and developing HR professionalsStrong background in client service or customer-facing environmentsSHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification preferredValid driver's licenseKnowledge & ExpertiseWorking knowledge of ADA, FMLA, FLSA, COBRA, HIPAA, Title VII, EEO, Workers' Compensation, ERISA, FCRA, Elliott-Larsen, and related employment lawsExperience managing HRIS and payroll systemsStrong understanding of recruitment, compensation, investigations, and employee developmentAbility to manage multiple priorities and competing demands with professionalismWhat We OfferCompetitive salary commensurate with experienceMileage reimbursement for client travelHealth insurance (BCN/BCBS)Life insurance, STD/LTDIRA with company matchGenerous PTO and paid holidaysOngoing professional developmentA collaborative, experienced HR consulting teamAbout Sage Solutions GroupSage Solutions Group provides practical, relationship-focused HR consulting to small and mid-sized organizations.
