Clayton Services is searching for a Purchasing Manager to join a growing distribution company in North Houston. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing procurement operations, managing inventory strategy across multiple locations, and leading a team to ensure product availability aligns with business demand.Job Type: Direct HirePay Rate: $120,000 - $140,000/year (depending on experience)Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and morePurchasing Manager Responsibilities:Lead and manage daily purchasing and inventory operations across multiple branch locationsDevelop and execute procurement strategies that support company growth and service goalsBuild and maintain strong vendor relationships, including negotiating pricing, terms, and rebatesMonitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock while minimizing excess and obsolete inventoryForecast seasonal demand and adjust purchasing plans accordinglyPartner with sales, operations, and leadership to align inventory with customer needsAnalyze purchasing data, product performance, and margin opportunities to improve profitabilityManage backorders, vendor lead times, and supply chain disruptionsOversee purchase order processes, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillmentUtilize ERP systems to track inventory, maintain data integrity, and support decision-makingLead, coach, and develop a team of purchasing professionalsPurchasing Manager Skills and Abilities:Strong leadership and team management skillsExcellent negotiation and vendor management capabilitiesDeep understanding of inventory metrics such as turns, fill rate, and service levelsAbility to analyze data and make strategic purchasing decisionsStrong organizational and problem-solving skillsAbility to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environmentEffective communication skills with both internal teams and external partnersAdvanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systemsPurchasing Manager Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferredMinimum of 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or inventory management experienceExperience within HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or wholesale distribution strongly preferredPrior experience managing purchasing for multiple locations requiredExperience with ERP systems (Eclipse or similar) preferredProven experience leading and developing teamsPurchasing Manager Immediate need.
