Position SummaryThe Customs and Compliance Operations Senior Manager provides day-to-day leadership, operational oversight, and regulatory compliance support for customs and trade operations. This position serves as a key advisor to the Director of Customs and Compliance Operations and ensures adherence to U.S. Customs regulations, international trade laws, and internal compliance standards while driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement. This position will be based in our Canton, Michigan office and will report directly to the Director of Customs and Compliance Operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:• Serve as key operational and compliance support to the Director of Customs and Compliance Operations• Act as an alternate corporate qualifier under the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) National Permit, as applicable• Provide daily leadership and oversight of customs operations to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency• Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of customs and compliance procedures and policies• Support the Director in managing departmental strategy, department metrics, priorities, and workload distribution• Assist in oversight of departmental financials, budgets, and expense monitoring• Participate in employee relations matters in coordination with Human Resources• Conduct mid-year and year-end performance reviews for customs department staff• Assist with administration of payroll and PTO in coordination with Human Resources• Participate in leadership, management, sales and budget meetings as assigned• Prepare and deliver management presentations as requested• Act as a liaison with clients, customers, internal departments, CBP, and PGAs• Assist with CBP audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory reporting• Assist in coordinating CBP requirements for new facilities and business expansion• Research, interpret, and provide guidance on complex Customs and trade compliance issues• Monitor time sensitive matters including CBP statements, CF28 Request for Information, CF29 Notices of Action, statement of Invoices SILs, and Protests• Maintain proficiency in ACE Portal, reporting, and analytics• Ensure compliance with TSA security rules and ISO documentation standards• Attend trade events and compliance forums• Perform other duties as assignedQualifications:• Bachelor's degree or 8+ years of progressive customs/trade compliance experience• U.S. Customs Broker License required• Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) required• Advanced knowledge of U.S. and international import/export regulations• Possess strong communication skills for executive level correspondence • High proficiency in Microsoft Office• Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills• Ability to leverage team strengths and mentor leaders to drive operational excellence and compliance
