Our client is seeking a Director who serves as the senior leader of their nonprofit organization, responsible for leading the organization's vision, strategy, and impact. Reporting to the Chief People Officer and Board of Directors, the Director oversees staff, ensures operational and financial excellence, and advances programs aligned with the in-house foundation's mission. Duties and Responsibilities: Leadership and Strategic DirectionProvide visionary leadership and strategic direction to the foundation, ensuring alignment with its mission, vision, and values.Develop and implement the foundation's long-term strategy, programs, and initiatives.Work closely with the Board of Directors to establish goals, objectives, and metrics for success.Inspire and lead a diverse team, fostering a positive organizational culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and excellence.Reaffirm or refine the mission so it reflects current realities (not just legacy intent)Set a 3-to-5-year vision with clear impact outcomesIdentify the priorities that matter mostFundraising and External RelationsLead all fundraising efforts, including securing major donors, corporate sponsorships, support, government grants, and contracts (as eligibility allows)Cultivate and strengthen relationships with current and prospective donors, foundations, government agencies, and partners.Serve as the public face of the Foundation, advocating for its mission and building relationships with key stakeholders, including media, community leaders, and government officials.Design, lead, and execute fundraising campaigns, events, and strategies to ensure financial sustainability and organizational growth.Advance initiatives that expand resources, increase visibility, and create lasting community impact.Diversify revenue streams (grants, individual donors, corporate sponsorships). Align fundraising messaging directly with impact goals. Avoid mission drift from chasing funding that doesn't fit strategy.Financial Management & Operations:Oversee the financial health of the organization, ensuring proper budgeting, accounting, and financial controls are in place.Monitor the organization's financial performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.Work with the Board and staff to develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring resources are used effectively and efficiently.Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards related to financial operations and reporting.Program Leadership & Continuous ImprovementEnsure the effective implementation and evaluation of the Foundation's programs and services, aligning them with community needs and organizational goals.Collaborate with program directors to design, implement, monitor, and continuously improve programs to ensure high-quality outcomes and measurable impact.Conduct regular assessments of program effectiveness, using data and feedback to adapt strategies and drive continuous improvement.Foster innovation in program development to expand reach and enhance community impact.Reinforce values like accountability, collaboration, and innovation.Develop leadership bench-strength and succession planningEnsure equity and inclusion are embedded, not just statedNarrows priorities to what drives real impactBoard Relations:Serve as a key liaison between the Board of Directors and the organization's staff, ensuring effective communication and alignment of goals and objectives.Provide regular updates to the Board on the foundation's progress, challenges, and opportunities.Support the Board's efforts in governance, fundraising, and strategic decision-making.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Ability to lead through external awareness and adaptabilityProficiency scanning external trends and adjusting strategy when neededAdvocate for the organization's mission in public and policy spacesBuild partnerships that amplify impactQualifications:A Master's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, social sciences, or a related field.At least 5-7 years of experience in senior leadership positions within the nonprofit sector, including experience managing staff, budgets, and large-scale programs.Proven success in fundraising, securing grants, and managing diverse revenue streams.Strong understanding of nonprofit governance, financial management, and legal compliance.Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders.Strong financial acumen, with experience in budget management and financial reporting.Strategic thinker with the ability to lead through change and complexity.Experience in developing and executing strategic plans, programs, and fundraising strategies.Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with donors, community leaders, and partners.Passion for the foundation's mission and commitment to making a positive impact in the community.Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing or sitting may be required.Ability to travel up to 50% of the time is required.
