Job SummaryWSP is currently initiating a search for an Overhead Catenary System Engineer for our Boston, MA OfficeOther LocationsNew York, NY, United StatesNewark, NJ, United StatesNew Haven, CT, United StatesPhiladelphia, PA, United StatesBaltimore, MD, United StatesYour ImpactEnsure that company technical policies and procedures are practiced during the execution of projectsDevelop design approaches and concepts for projects including Power Distribution Design for Light Rail, Heavy Rail, Commuter Rail, and High Speed Rail, utilizing overhead contact or third rail systemsPrepare Overhead Contact System studies for AC and DC electrified railway systemsAssist in the preparation of Overhead Contact System technical calculationsAssist in the preparation of Overhead Contact System layouts, arrangements and detailsDevelop and review designs and technical specifications, meeting quality standardsDevelop construction cost estimatesDevelop design/engineering cost estimatesAssist project managers in the coordination of project designs with other disciplines including attendance at project meetingsReview shop drawings, record changes, and communicate directly with suppliers, contractors, and client representatives as requiredPerform field inspections as neededParticipate in WSP's quality process for all deliverablesCollaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide "trusted advisor" service and future ready solutions for clientsExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and proceduresPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needsWho You AreRequired QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline5-7 years of relevant post education experience in engineering, prior transit and rail experience, and infrastructure designExperience and technical ability to work on different types of Overhead Contact Systems Support and participate in the Systems implementation phase of projects, such as installation, Testing & Commissioning, Cutover, Record Drawings and final reportsSupport procurement efforts by authoring technical requirements and specifications, performing vendor bid evaluations and supporting vendor selectionCommissioning of Traction Power Distribution Systems and Equipment, including experience with engineering design on at least three transit or commuter/intercity rail projectsStrong technical writing, analytical and communication skillsDetail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work productsExperience in a MicroStation and AutoCAD design environment for the development of Overhead Contact System design drawingsFunctional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applicationsImmediate availability to work in the USProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policiesMust be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environmentOccasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirementsPreferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in Engineering or closely related disciplineProfessional Engineer (P.E.) WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
