Job Description

Position OverviewMattur is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to own the design and development of complex mixed-signal, digital, and power electronics across our generator and wind platforms. This person will take independent ownership of hardware workstreams from architecture through bring-up, test, and production release "” working directly with engineering leadership to shape system-level decisions and drive designs to completion. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience in power electronics and FPGA-based control systems and strong design judgment.Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Design and ArchitectureOwn the end-to-end design of mixed-signal, digital, and power electronics subsystems "” from architecture definition and component selection through schematic capture, PCB layout, and design release.Lead system-level electrical architecture decisions, including power conversion topology, control interfaces, protection schemes, and signal chain design for generator and wind platform applications.Design and develop high-voltage DC-DC converters, motor drive circuits, and power management systems relevant to Mattur's supercapacitor-based PulseTech platform.Develop and maintain FPGA-based control and signal processing designs using VHDL or Verilog, including timing closure, simulation, and integration with embedded control systems.Produce production-quality schematics, BOMs, and PCB layouts using Altium; define and enforce design rules for manufacturability and reliability.Lead design reviews, failure mode analysis, and design-for-manufacturing assessments across electrical subsystems.Hardware Bring-Up, Test, and ValidationLead board bring-up and debug activities for new hardware, including mixed-signal, power electronics, and digital subsystems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, and other lab instrumentation.Define and execute electrical validation and characterization plans "” including thermal, efficiency, EMI, and functional testing "” and translate results into design improvements.Develop Python, MATLAB, or similar scripting tools to automate test, data acquisition, and validation workflows.Support environmental and regulatory testing requirements including EMC, safety, and relevant certification processes.Cross-Functional and Manufacturing CollaborationPartner with mechanical, firmware, and controls teams on system integration, packaging, thermal management, and interface definition.Work with contract manufacturers and PCB fabricators on design-for-manufacture feedback, assembly considerations, and first article reviews.Support NPI and production transition activities, including drawing release, ECO management, and resolving manufacturing issues as designs move from prototype to production.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field; Master's degree a plus.8-12 years of relevant electrical engineering experience in hardware product development, with a track record of owning designs from concept through production release.Deep experience in power electronics design "” DC-DC converters, motor drives, high-voltage systems, or energy storage interfaces.Strong proficiency in mixed-signal circuit design, including analog signal conditioning, ADCs, sensors, and filtering.Meaningful FPGA development experience using VHDL or Verilog, including simulation, synthesis, and hardware validation.Expert-level proficiency in Altium or equivalent PCB design tools; strong command of GD&T and design documentation practices.Hands-on lab experience with advanced test equipment and the ability to debug complex hardware failures independently.Experience working with contract manufacturers, PCB fabs, and component suppliers on design feedback and part qualification.Strong communicator "” able to lead technical reviews, document design decisions clearly, and work effectively across engineering and operations.Based in Arizona; this is a full-time, on-site role.What We OfferCompetitive salary and stock options.Comprehensive benefits package, including health, vision, dental, and life insurance plans.Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.A mission-driven team building next-generation American-made power.
