This role will bridge business needs and technical execution, ensuring robust system design, seamless integrations, and adherence to federal standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign end-to-end technical solutions across applications, cloud infrastructure, and data platformsTranslate business and research requirements into scalable architecture designsDefine and implement microservices, APIs (REST/GraphQL), and integration patternsArchitect cloud-native solutions using AWS/Azure/GCPEnsure system security, reliability, and performance optimizationEstablish best practices for DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as CodeDesign data architectures including data lakes, warehouses, and ETL pipelinesEnsure compliance with FISMA, NIST, FedRAMP, HIPAA guidelinesCollaborate with engineering, security, and research teams for solution deliveryConduct architecture reviews, risk assessments, and technology evaluationsDefine disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity strategiesMentor engineering teams and guide technical decision-makingRequired QualificationsBachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field8-12+ years of experience in software engineering, system design, or architecture rolesProven experience designing distributed and scalable systemsStrong expertise in at least one cloud platform (AWS/Azure preferred)Experience with APIs, microservices, and system integrationsKnowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelinesStrong understanding of networking, security, and system architecture principlesExperience working in regulated or compliance-driven environmentsTechnical SkillsCloud Platforms: AWS / AzureLanguages: Java / Python / Node.js (any one strong)APIs: REST, GraphQL, API Gateway designDevOps Tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CIContainers: Docker, KubernetesInfrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormationData: SQL/NoSQL databases, ETL pipelines, data modelingMonitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stackPreferred QualificationsExperience in federal, healthcare, or research organizationsFamiliarity with NIH systems or biomedical data platformsCertifications (AWS Solutions Architect, TOGAF, Kubernetes, etc.)Exposure to data analytics or AI/ML systemsKnowledge of zero-trust architectureNice-to-HaveExperience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, streaming systems)Exposure to AI/ML integration in enterprise applicationsKnowledge of data governance and privacy frameworks
