Interview Process: Initial Teams Interview + Mandatory In-Person Follow-UpThe Indiana Department of Health Laboratory - Advanced Molecular Detection Division is seeking an experienced NGS Specialist to support molecular biology testing, genomic sequencing, assay troubleshooting, and laboratory operations in a high-complexity public health laboratory environment.Key Responsibilities:• Perform molecular biology examinations and analyses on clinical and environmental samples• Conduct nucleic acid extraction using manual and automated methods• Utilize molecular techniques including PCR, MALDI-TOF, and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)• Operate and troubleshoot Illumina or PacBIO sequencing instruments• Develop, validate, and implement new molecular testing methods• Prepare SOPs, validation documents, and laboratory reports• Perform quality control checks and maintain testing records• Provide technical oversight for high complexity laboratory testing• Ensure compliance with CLIA standards and laboratory safety protocolsRequired Qualifications:? BA/BS in Biological Science or related field? Hands-on NGS experience using Illumina or PacBIO instruments? 2+ years of high complexity laboratory testing experience? Strong knowledge of molecular biology, microbiology, and laboratory practices? Experience with laboratory instrumentation and automated analysis techniques? Understanding of CLIA regulations and quality assurance procedures? Strong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Experience: ? Experience with public health laboratory environments ?
