Senior Linux Support Engineer

Hybrid - 2 Days Onsite | Jersey City, NJ AreaWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Support Engineer to join our team in a hybrid capacity, requiring two days per week onsite in the Jersey City area. This role is ideal for a technical professional with deep expertise in Linux systems administration, VoIP technologies, and SIP-based networking environments.The ideal candidate will have experience supporting mission-critical production platforms, troubleshooting complex system and network issues, and collaborating directly with customer engineering teams to maintain operational stability and performance.Key ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot and resolve issues across Linux-based production environments.Analyze and remediate application, operating system, network, and VoIP-related incidents.Perform system updates, patching, and production deployments during scheduled maintenance windows.Develop and maintain Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation for production changes.Work closely with customer engineering teams to address operational issues and technical change requests.Gather and analyze system logs, packet captures, and traces to support issue resolution and root cause analysis.Escalate and document software defects identified in production environments for development teams.Participate in recurring operational and technical review meetings with customers and internal teams.Required Qualifications5+ years of experience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux or comparable Linux environments.Strong hands-on expertise with Linux administration and troubleshooting.Strong understanding of VoIP technologies and SIP protocol troubleshooting.Solid networking knowledge, including TCP/IP fundamentals and packet analysis.Experience analyzing Wireshark captures and troubleshooting signaling/media issues.Proficiency gathering and interpreting logs and traces via Linux command line tools.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work directly with customer engineering teams.Proficiency with standard business and office productivity tools.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Linux shell scripting.Exposure to PHP code and application troubleshooting.Familiarity with Diameter protocol.Experience with VMware vSphere environments.Basic understanding of Cisco IOS administration and networking concepts.Work Authorization:Applicants must have valid, independent authorization to work in the United States.
