Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Human Resources to lead all HR functions for a luxury hotel in Menlo Park, California. This executive leadership role is responsible for cultivating a service-driven culture, ensuring compliance with California labor laws, and supporting operational excellence through effective talent management and employee engagement initiatives.The ideal candidate is a hands-on hospitality HR leader with strong luxury hotel experience, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to partner closely with department leaders in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic HR LeadershipServe as a key member of the Executive Committee and trusted advisor to hotel leadershipDevelop and implement HR strategies aligned with operational and business objectivesFoster a culture of service excellence, collaboration, and employee engagementLead workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational development initiativesTalent Acquisition & Team DevelopmentOversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies across all hotel departmentsSupport leadership development, coaching, and performance management programsEnsure training initiatives align with luxury hospitality service standardsPromote career growth and internal advancement opportunitiesEmployee Relations & ComplianceEnsure compliance with all federal, California state, and local employment lawsManage employee relations matters, investigations, and conflict resolution with professionalism and discretionMaintain policies, procedures, and HR documentation in accordance with legal requirementsPartner with department leaders on corrective action and performance managementCompensation, Benefits & HR OperationsOversee payroll coordination, benefits administration, and HRIS systemsMonitor labor costs and staffing levels in partnership with Finance and OperationsSupport compensation planning and employee wellness initiativesMaintain accurate personnel records and compliance reportingCulture & EngagementLead employee engagement, recognition, and team member appreciation programsFoster an inclusive, positive, and high-performing workplace cultureChampion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives throughout the propertyRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field5-8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience in hotel or resort environmentsStrong knowledge of California labor laws, wage and hour compliance, and employee relationsExperience supporting luxury or full-service hospitality operationsExcellent leadership, communication, and organizational skillsPreferred QualificationsLuxury hotel or lifestyle hospitality brand experienceExperience in union environments (if applicable)SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferredExperience with HRIS and payroll systems commonly used in hospitalityCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive executive salaryPerformance-based bonus opportunityComprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits401(k) with company matchPaid time off and holidaysCareer growth opportunities within a luxury hospitality portfolio
