CNC Programmer Multi Axis Milling and LatheOur client who is 61 year manufacturing facility specializing in parts for the Aerospace Industry seeks a CNC Programmer for their Elk Grove Village Il facility.Experience required4 Axis or 3x2 Axis, set up and tooling expertiseNice to have experience5 axis simultaneous, setting up lathes, Mill set-up, Below is my clients job descriptionSenior CNC Programmer - Multi-Axis Milling & Lathe Job Type: Full-time Location: Elk Grove Village, IL Work Location: On-site only About the Role Confidential AS9100-certified precision machining job shop is seeking a skilled Senior CNC Programmer to support complex, high-mix, tight-tolerance machining in a build-to-print environment. This role is focused primarily on 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis milling, with the ability to also program basic CNC lathe work. We are looking for someone who can create reliable, efficient, and repeatable programs for modern Fanuc- and Heidenhain-controlled equipment, while understanding the realities of the shop floor "” not just CAM output. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to work with modern fixturing techniques, advanced tooling strategies, and emerging AI-assisted programming tools. The right candidate will have the freedom and budget to recommend and implement improved workholding, tooling, and programming technology where it adds value. Responsibilities • Program 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis milling using Mastercam and/or Fusion 360 • Program basic CNC lathe operations • Develop practical machining strategies using 3+2 and simultaneous 5-axis methods where appropriate • Create efficient, repeatable processes that balance quality, cycle time, tool life, and process stability • Build clean, organized, shop-ready programs with strong supporting documentation • Create setup sheets, tool lists, operation notes, and critical machining callouts • Work closely with setup personnel, machinists, and inspection to support prove-outs and improve first-pass success • Troubleshoot issues related to clearance, holder interference, tool reach, chatter, chip evacuation, workholding, and repeatability • Apply and help improve modern fixturing and workholding methods • Evaluate and recommend improved tooling, holders, workholding systems, and AI-supported programming workflows • Maintain strong revision awareness and program release discipline in an AS9100-controlled environment Qualifications • Strong experience programming 4-axis milling required • 5-axis programming and machining experience strongly preferred • Ability to program basic CNC lathe work • Proficiency in Mastercam and/or Fusion 360 • Experience working with Fanuc and/or Heidenhain-controlled machines • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills • Strong understanding of build-to-print machining discipline • Ability to create clear setup documentation machinists can run without guesswork • Practical understanding of shop-floor constraints including workholding, clearance, tool stickout, chatter control, chip evacuation, and tolerance repeatability • Strong interest in process improvement through modern tooling, fixturing, and programming methods Preferred • Experience in an AS9100, aerospace, defense, or other tight-tolerance machining environment • Experience programming complex parts in a high-mix job shop • Familiarity with machine-specific output and process considerations for Fanuc and Heidenhain environments Benefits & Terms • Health, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance • Company pays 85%+ of employee premiums • 60-day try-out period • Industry references required • Equal Opportunity Employer
