Job Title: Maintenance Technician 2Position SummaryThe Maintenance Technician 2 installs, maintains, and repairs plant machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure continuous production.Security ClearanceMust be a U.S. Citizen, as this job is within a Secured Facility. Secret Level Clearance required.ShiftD Shift, 4 p.m. - 4 a.m., Wednesday - Saturday (week 1), Thursday - Saturday (week 2)Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms all duties in a safe manner, abiding by Lock Out Tag Out and other safety programs.Supports new installations of mechanical equipment to comply with safety and code requirements.Helps plan mechanical work to be performed from written or verbal information.Completes and documents preventive maintenance on equipment. Helps troubleshoot and determine root causes of equipment failures and dismantles devices as needed to access and remove defective parts. Makes necessary repairs of mechanical equipment in compliance with safety and code requirements. Helps perform major teardowns and rebuilds of equipment and machinery.Performs basic electrical maintenance and utilizes basic knowledge of electrical principles.Helps collect and analyze data to predict overhaul or replacement of mechanical equipment. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Lubricates and cleans parts. Sets up and operates, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. Must work with other maintenance personnel, company team members, and facility engineers in a team environment.Performs other duties as assigned.Proficient with basic hand tools and can read a multi-meter.Work Environment & Required PPEWork environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate. While on duty, Protective Personal Equipment (PPE) provided for this position must be used.Physical Demands & SkillsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus are required.Must regularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear; frequently must stand or stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally required to sit, and climb or balance.Experience with all hand and power tools used in the mechanical and plumbing trades; i.e., drill motors, power saws, pipe cutting and threading machines, gas welding and cutting torches. Must operate and certified to use mobile lifting equipment as required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and training program, operating and maintenance instructions, equipment manuals, code requirements, procedure manuals, Safety Data Sheets, and standard task procedures.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to understand and follow verbal instructions.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors, and/or employees.Understanding and use of group decision-making techniques, and problem-solving meeting techniques. Ability to function in a team environment. Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED.Certificates, Licenses, and RegistrationsForklift operator license, hazardous material handling, and medically certified to wear a respirator.
