DescriptionThe Mines and Plants Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing safety protocols and procedures, employee training, and safety compliance to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.Essential Functions of the Position:Manage and administer the Injury & Illness Prevention Program to ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and CalOSHA regulations for all facilities.Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.Participate in new employee orientation and on-boarding processes. Develop and lead training courses for new employees.Conduct regular inspections and audits of mine and plant facilities to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.Oversee and attend all agency inspections, citation reviews, close out conferences, and citations to contest.Provide guidance and training to employees on safety procedures and best practices.Prepare safety reports for management as required.Manage recordkeeping and reporting as required for federal, state, and local agencies.Assist Environmental Manager in overseeing chemical inventory at each location and maintaining Safety Data SheetsInvestigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective action recommendations.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop emergency response plans and conduct drills.Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in safety practices.Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, training sessions, inspections, and corrective actions.Skills and Knowledge:In-depth knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and CalOSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.Strong understanding of compliance management.Proficiency in using software for tracking employee training, safety metrics and incidents.Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively train employees on safety procedures.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex situations and develop practical solutions.Oral and written communication skills.English language skills.Interpersonal, customer service, and public relations skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
