Location: Somerset, NJ (On-site)Position OverviewWe are looking for an experienced and results-driven Director of Commercial Operations to lead our client's Softgel Division. This role is responsible for overseeing all strategic and day-to-day manufacturing operations across three shifts, ensuring high standards in operational efficiency, team productivity, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery of complex OTC and dietary supplement products. The ideal candidate brings hands-on leadership experience in pharmaceutical or contract manufacturing, a deep understanding of performance metrics, and a proven ability to manage large teams in a regulated, fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Production OversightDirect and coordinate all softgel production activities across three shifts to ensure efficient, high-quality, and timely manufacturing.Monitor and enhance key operational metrics including throughput, equipment utilization, and on-time delivery.Lead daily operations reviews and cross-functional coordination to maintain alignment on goals and address production challenges proactively.Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop production supervisors, leads, and staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.Work closely with Human Resources on workforce planning, performance management, conflict resolution, and employee engagement strategies.Drive cross-training programs and flexible scheduling to optimize labor utilization and build operational resilience.Process Excellence & Continuous ImprovementChampion lean manufacturing initiatives to reduce waste, improve yields, and enhance process reliability.Leverage automation and digital tools to improve visibility, streamline reporting, and support real-time decision-making.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement scalable processes that support long-term growth and compliance.QualificationsA bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline is required; an MBA or advanced degree is a strong plus.8-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical or nutraceutical manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing operations.Proven track record of managing high-volume, multi-shift production facilities, ideally with hands-on experience in softgel or encapsulation manufacturing.Deep knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, and production performance metrics.Exceptional leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams.Experience working within a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization environment is highly preferred.
