Distribution Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEWProvide on-shift leadership for distribution center teams working in a wide variety of distribution center activities related to receiving, replenishment, picking of store orders, E Com, loading of trucks, inventory control, slotting and support roles. Inspires and motivates employees to meet performance expectations and to be highly engaged in the business.Successful performance in this role is a gateway to future positions of increased responsibility in the Distribution Center and career growth as a supply chain / logistics professional.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not limited to the following):Will periodically be the sole on-site management team presence for the Distribution facility overseeing all aspects of the operationAssist in training of new Distribution Center employees assigned to the function being supervisedPlanning work schedules for employees to ensure adequate staffing is available for critical business needsMonitoring work performance of individuals in their area for productivity, quality, safety, procedural compliance and giving appropriate reinforcing feedback or coachingMonitoring floor operations by doing Gemba walks and floor presence, observing workflow, adherence to SOP's, housekeeping, safety and takes appropriate follow up action or escalates as appropriate.Solves problems and makes operating decisions during shift operations to maintain smooth workflow and to insure completion of order fulfillment and goods processingCoaching and developing of individuals to achieve top performance on their key metricsEscalates issues and problems on a timely basis to management that require additional resources or helpIdentifies opportunities and create action plans for continuous process improvement in the operation to reduce cost, reduce cycle time, improve UPH/CPH, improve service, quality assurance and mobilize resources to fully implement changesCommunicate and reinforce company policies and standardsParticipates and actively contributes in Daily Management Reviews and Leadership team meetingsMaintains a healthy, respectful, positive work environmentMonitors visual controls, digital displays, Kanban signals, signage, etc.Maintains training materials, SOP's are kept current and revised as needed for areas of responsibilityEducation and / or Experience Requirements:High School diploma or equivalent is requiredAbility to read, write and speak English fluently is required; the ability to speak Spanish is an asset but not a requirement.2 years of supervisory or lead / coordinator experience leading teams of 10 or more people or experience of equivalent leadership complexity required.Ideally 2-3 years of experience in distribution center operations preferred.Warehouse / Distribution Center operations concepts of inventory controls, order fulfillment and product movementBasic knowledge of Warehouse Management SystemsStrong PC skills - Excel, Word, Outlook.
