We're hiring a Mechanical, Test, and validation Engineer for a 12-month contract in Long Beach, CA. This role focuses on developing and maintaining a Tableau-based data analysis tool for vehicle testing and powertrain development. It is ideal for engineers with strong programming and automotive R&D experience.Job Title: Mechanical, Test & Validation Engineering 2Job Location: Long Beach, CA 90810Job Duration: 12-month contract with possible extensionDescription:The main responsibilities of this position include the programming and maintenance of a Tableau-based Data Analysis Environment for calibration-related function development.This position's main responsibilities include programming and maintainingdeveloping calibration-related functionsThe focus is to program an existing tool within a new software environment to allow generic, company-wide usage, including maintenance programs.This requires interaction not only with other software tool development engineers but also collaboration with technical experts to ensure the newly created software tool delivers the output needed by engineering teams.Key Tasks:Develop, program, and maintain software tool solutions for more effective vehicle testing, development analysis, and reporting.Develop, program, and maintain individual R&D testing data analysis reports for powertrain development teams.Evaluate faults and lead problem-solving activities, including 1st-level analysis and collaboration with internal technical experts.Support internal Key Process Indicators for local teams and management to monitor current status and help forecast future needs.Actively participate in continuous process improvement initiatives across internal and external teams.Minimum Education Required:Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer SciencePreferred Qualifications:Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering R&D and software development, preferably in the automotive industryMaster's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related fieldTop Must-Haves:Proficiency in multiple coding languagesKnowledge of databases, data structures, algorithms, testing procedures, debugging, operating systems, and text editing softwareStrong comprehension of complex, project- and vehicle-specific issuesExcellent technical communication across different channels (verbal, written, meetings)Creative thinking and a strong drive to optimize solution approachesSkills:Automotive Knowledge: Understanding of modern vehicle technologies, onboard diagnostics, communication architectures, and component/module structuresProgramming: Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, SQL, MATLAB, VBA (Excel), database programming, and general software development best practicesProject Management: Ability to manage projects from conception to execution, with strong KPI tracking and reporting skillsInterpersonal Skills: Experience working in multicultural, complex organizational structuresAnalytical/System Engineering: Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and solve complex technical issues; evaluate solution optionsOrganizational/Leadership: Ability to coordinate workflow internally and with external service providersSoft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, adaptability, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, time management, persistence, and accountability
