This role will be responsible for their scheduling and performance management, and for personally engaging with the consultants in your group to know and understand their strengths, development objectives, personal preferences and career goals. You will also interact with Partners and Talent Managers in other parts of the business to assemble consulting teams and to remediate any issues.The successful Talent Manager will be able to proactively, delicately and empathetically balance the needs of the business alongside the preferences, career goals and development needs of the consultant to deliver appropriate staffing and talent management outcomes. You will work in a tight knit team against demanding timelines to help deliver Oliver Wyman's business model.This is a hybrid role that will require a presence in the office 3 days per week. There is no option to be fully remote.Key Responsibilities:Talent Management:Use the performance management process as a basis for engaging own consultants on development needs and areas for trainingDevelop relationships with each consultant and begin to be seen as a trusted advisorAssist in directing consultants towards resources for career adviceAssist the consultants in escalating employee relations issues or questions around general Human Capital operationsMonitor for work-life-quality issues and escalate when neededCollaborate with Human Capital Manager on managing the pyramid, training, onboarding, performance improvement initiativesProject Staffing:Understand at a high-level the nuances of the type of work / roles being filledLiaise with project team leaders to understand staffing needs in your areaFor assigned projects, collect all relevant details from Partners and Practice Group TMs on projects to be staffedAnticipate capacity issues and manage consultants' and Partner expectations accordinglyManage all staff for Business Development, Intellectual Capital and other beach workCommunicate staffing outcomes to consultants under your TM purview in an empathetic mannerTrack mobility issues, holidays, trainings, background checks and other ad-hoc staffing enabling tasksConsultant Development and Performance Management:Understand consultant performance, skills and development needs to facilitate a smooth staffing processUnderstand the performance management framework and competency model and how it applies to own consultant's situationsRead all performance appraisals and follow-up any issues / performance flags with project team and managerCoordinate, attend and contribute to annual Career Review meetings in for own consultant populationsData, analysis and reporting:Review weekly utilization reports, cross reference with Retain to ensure latest information is capturedAssist with the assembly of the project pipeline and consultant availability reportsHelp to prepare documents and exhibits for various senior leadership meetings (using Excel and PowerPoint)Assist with the analysis of performance outcome resultsAd hoc analyses and reporting as neededDemonstrate capability in using enterprise resource management tools and performance systemsMaintain all employee records and keep resource planning systems up to datePrepare key weekly reportsOliver Wyman Development:Participate in project work within and adjacent to the broader Human Capital function on topics such as employee experience, retention, benefits, flexible working, utilization, performance, etc.Organize own work and display ability to guide colleagues in building project deliverablesWork on cross-Practice Group, Market, Regional teams to deliver special / ad-hoc assignment in a collaborative mannerBe a firm citizen and embody Oliver Wyman values in day-to-day activitiesDisplay a strong willingness to learn more about OW outside of the TM function by seeking out opportunities for broader involvementExperience Required:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience3-5 years of relevant professional experience in a fast-paced and dynamic client services business environmentManagement consulting and/or Human Resources experience preferredComfortable working with data (excel, PowerPoint and enterprise resource management software)Skills and Attributes:Proven ability to establish and grow relationships at all levels within an organizationCredible, highly professional, able to communicate and negotiate effectively while managing diverse personalities, cultures and backgroundsExcellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor the message to fit the audienceSelf-motivated and proactive; someone who takes full ownership of her/his work and is flexible to prioritize or reprioritize as neededCreative, strategic thinker who continually seeks ways to improve processesGenuinely interested in the development and career success of the consultants with whom you workA strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy is required to juggle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously; as well as the ability to organize, prioritize and manage one's day and schedule to effectively to meet deadlinesComfortable working independently, but can thrive in a team setting; all while working in a fast-paced environmentThe applicable base salary range for this role is $84,000 to $117,000.The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
