This includes handling small claims court appearances, overseeing and advising on state and federal litigation (including consumer and auto claims when escalated), drafting and reviewing contracts across departments, and ensuring full compliance with labor regulations. Experience in the transportation or logistics industry is highly preferred.Key Responsibilities:Represent the company in small claims court and oversee strategy and coordination of external counsel in state and federal legal matters.Provide legal counsel on escalated consumer complaints and auto-related claims.Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts including vendor, client, employment, and service agreements.Ensure compliance with federal and state labor and employment laws, particularly Department of Labor (DOL) regulations.Serve as a legal advisor to senior management on risk management and business strategy.Maintain company policies and procedures to ensure they align with evolving legal requirements.Assist with legal aspects of business transactions including insurance, lease agreements, and partnership arrangements.Stay current with developments in transportation law and regulatory changes.Requirements:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Licensed to practice law in New YorkNew Jersey license is a strong plus3-5 years of relevant legal experience, including litigation and contract work.Strong knowledge of federal and state labor laws (DOL regulations required).Prior in-house counsel or transportation industry experience is highly preferredExceptional written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and make sound legal decisions in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with regulatory compliance specific to transportation/logistics.Familiarity with claims processes related to consumer complaints and auto incidents.Background in labor disputes, HR support, and internal investigations.
