Job Title: Grant Writer Location: Washington, DC The Client: Our client is an advanced-stage uranium exploration company is seeking a highly experienced Grant Strategist and Writer with a proven track record of successfully identifying, applying for, and securing U.S. federal and local government grants. This role will focus on funding opportunities in the energy, mining, and critical resources sectors, particularly those relevant to uranium and strategic metals.The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of U.S. government structures, including key departments such as the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DoD), and Homeland Security, and will be comfortable operating autonomously creating actionable plans, managing the end-to-end grant lifecycle, and collaborating with both internal stakeholders and external partners.Key Responsibilities:Independently research and identify grant and funding opportunities aligned with company goals (DOE, DoD, Homeland Security, etc.).Develop and implement a strategic grants action plan - prioritizing opportunities, deadlines, and application approaches.Write, revise, and submit high-quality, compelling grant applications and proposals to U.S. government agencies.Track and manage multiple grant submissions, including status, reporting requirements, and follow-ups.Leverage prior successful experience to navigate complex government application portals and procedures.Collaborate with internal leadership and external partners to collect technical and operational data needed for proposals.Prepare supporting documents including executive summaries, budgets, project plans, and outcome measurements.Stay up to date on new federal and local government programs, particularly those supporting mining, energy security, and critical materials.Potentially support a parallel initiative with a related critical mineral organization.What you must bring to the role:Minimum 5 years of experience in U.S. federal grant research and writing, with a strong success rate in awarded applications.Demonstrated success securing funding for mining, energy, critical materials, or related strategic sectors.Deep knowledge of federal funding structures and departments (DOE, DoD, DHS, etc.).Able to work independently and drive projects forward without hand-holding - particularly valuable in small company environments.Strong project management, communication, and research skills.Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and persuasively.Familiarity with compliance, permitting, and reporting expectations related to U.S. government grants.Experience working with or within U.S. government agencies is highly desirable.
