Arrowhead is assisting a manufacturing company, delivering high performance marine products, fill a Research & Development Engineer.This role will pay between $78K-$88K base salary.Position SummaryThe R&D Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing new products, materials, and processes. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, enhance existing technologies, and support the company's long-term development objectives.ResponsibilitiesResearch & Innovation:Conduct industry research to identify new technologies, materials, and design trends.Develop innovative solutions to improve existing products or create new ones.Explore emerging scientific principles, methodologies, and materials for potential application.Product Development & Design:Conceptualize, design, and develop prototypes for new products.Work with CAD software (SolidWorks) and simulation tools to create detailed engineering models (Ansys).Perform feasibility studies and proof-of-concept testing.Testing & Validation:Develop and execute testing protocols to evaluate product performance in the lab.Analyze test data and make necessary modifications to improve functionality, reliability, and durability.Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.Material & Process Optimization:Select appropriate materials and evaluate their mechanical, chemical, and thermal properties.Work with manufacturing teams to refine production processes, ensuring efficiency and scalability.Research and implement advanced manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing, automation, and robotics.Collaboration & Cross-functional Coordination:Work closely with other departments like marketing and manufacturing to align R&D efforts with business goals.Communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders through reports and presentations.Partner with external research institutions, universities, and industry experts for technology advancements.Cost Analysis & Budget Management:Perform cost-benefit analysis for new product designs and material selections.Manage project budgets, ensuring financial viability of research projects.Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high product quality.Performs other duties and participates in Company initiatives as assigned.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully an individual must be capable of performing each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Materials Science, Mechanical, Chemical, or a related field).Composite Structures, Composite rolling or winding, and/or Composite Prepreg manufacturing experience1-3 years of experience in engineering, product development, or a related field.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.Proficiency in CAD software like SolidWorks, simulation tools like Ansys, and laboratory testing (Scientific method).Knowledge of materials science, manufacturing processes, and prototyping techniques.Experience with project management and cross-functional collaboration.Strong communication skills for technical reporting and team collaboration.Ability to work independently and adapt to fast-paced environments.Working ConditionsEnvironmentalWorks in a combination of a standard office, laboratory, and general normal manufacturing conditions. Uses general office equipment such as computers, telephones and other business task machines.Physical/MentalIntermittent sitting, standing and walking in the ordinary course of performing duties in office, laboratory and normal manufacturing settings.
