At Old Dominion we are looking for individuals to join the OD Family that will provide innovative solutions and exceed expectations to keep OD the premier transportation solutions provider.Provide guidance for employee relations, ensuring consistent policy and procedure application, including progressive discipline, problem resolution and on-boarding to maximize employee engagement. Directly manage the Service Center HR Managers, Area HR Managers, and HR Supervisors within the region.Primary ResponsibilitiesDirectly manage Service Center HR Managers and HR Supervisors at large break-bulk service centers to ensure a consistent application of HR policies and proceduresEffectively guide day-to-day decisions about employees and foster behaviors which are consistent with OD's Core values and service excellence expectationsOversee the In-depth Reviews process within assigned region as necessary and partner with management on proposed action planningAssist Regional VPs with succession planning for leadership rolesProactively monitor and be immersed in employee/labor relations, ensure effective communication with employees, and enhance management-employee interaction to maintain union-free environmentDevelop and prepare class materials and leadership webinars to teach as assigned at the corporate office and in the fieldUse the company internal employee relations website to stay up to dateTrain the trainer at Service Centers located throughout the USResearch web based and live training courses for OD to useWrite reports and distribute data company-wideAssist corporate HR benefits, leave of absence, and compensation groups with implementation of programs as neededMonitor and assess local and state employment legislation/regulations, determine potential impact and recommend/implement actions to ensure complianceIdentify issues and make recommendations to improve effectiveness of human resources functions to positively impact the corporate vision, goals, and the overall business strategyProvide counsel and leadership in human resources decisions, procedures and programs, act as a liaison for feedback and communication between Corporate Human Resources and Regional Ops Management teamJob QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or equivalent education and experiencePHR or SPHR certification preferredExperience:5 years of experience as an HR Manager and/or generalistKnowledge of federal, state, and local employment lawExperience supporting operations in a multi-state work environmentDemonstrated leadership, interpersonal, organizational, facilitation and coaching skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environmentProficient with Microsoft OfficeExperience working in a non-union environment and executing union avoidance measures and tacticsExperience with labor relations in the transportation industry and knowledge of DOT regulations is preferredExcellent verbal and written communication skillsCompensation Range:The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
