Job Title: Senior Mechanical DesignerLocation: Boise, Idaho (On-site Position)Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Designer to join our team at a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Boise, Idaho. This role is integral to the expansion and optimization of facility operations to meet increasing production demands. You will work closely with engineers, project coordinators, and construction teams to ensure that field conditions align with project specifications and design intent.The position combines detailed design and drafting responsibilities with on-site field verification. Utilizing tools such as AutoCAD and Revit, you will produce accurate and comprehensive 2D/3D drawing packages that adhere to site standards. This role offers a dynamic environment with opportunities for leadership, technical challenge, and career development.Key Responsibilities:Conduct regular on-site visits to verify field conditions and ensure design implementation aligns with project specifications and field observations.Coordinate effectively with project engineers, coordinators, and construction trades to ensure that all as-built conditions reflect the overall project objectives.Prepare comprehensive and precise 2D and Revit drawing packages in accordance with site design standards.Draft, verify, and update chemical and mechanical system drawings, including piping layouts, equipment layouts, schedules, and P&IDs.Produce detailed piping plans showing pipe routing, valve and instrument locations, and associated equipment layouts.Create Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) illustrating system and component interactions.Develop detailed flow diagrams for gas-side and water-side systems (HVAC, hydronics, and fire protection).Incorporate isometric views into design packages to support field installation and comprehension.Provide custom installation details for complex project areas.Conduct punch-list walks to verify that installations meet design specifications and intent.Participate in design updates and revisions to support design changes, cost reductions, and manufacturability improvements.Assist in vendor evaluations and provide engineering drafting support, drawing review, and drawing control.Support engineered system design (e.g., tanks, vessels) through detailed drawing and documentation work.Contribute to mechanical building system design for semiconductor or other advanced technology facilities.Mentor junior designers and new team members, sharing discipline expertise and best practices.Maintain and apply deep knowledge of applicable codes and standards.Break down projects into tasks, estimate work hours, and provide accurate workload forecasts.Utilize Revit and AutoCAD for extensive modeling and drafting tasks.Perform comprehensive model reviews using Navisworks.Serve as a lead designer for major program areas (wet side or dry side).Engage in code reviews and technical discussions.Deliver project documentation for all phases, including models, plans, sections, flow diagrams, sketches, and equipment arrangements.Attend and actively participate in mechanical design meetings and project status updates.Review project specifications and provide input, editing, and feedback as required.Coordinate across disciplines to resolve design conflicts and ensure alignment with existing field conditions.Qualifications:10 to 15+ years of progressive CAD drafting and design experience in process systems.Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for mechanical design.Experience with Navisworks for model review and coordination.Demonstrated expertise in building mechanical systems, preferably in semiconductor or related high-tech industries.In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards.Proven ability to lead design teams and mentor junior staff.Strong organizational, communication, and multi-tasking skills.Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.Physical Requirements:Ability to walk long distances and navigate active construction sites.Must be able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, twist, crawl, climb ladders, and work on catwalks or in confined spaces.Capable of lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.Additional Requirements:Must pass a background check and drug screening.Full authorization to work in the United States is required; sponsorship will not be provided or continued for this role.This position offers a unique opportunity to blend technical expertise with hands-on field engagement.
