We're partnering with a growing manufacturing company in Southern Michigan to find an experienced Materials Manager to join their team. Our ideal candidate can remain composed under pressure and has a proven track record of success in managing materials, inventory, and supply chain processes within a manufacturing setting.Responsibilities:Develop and execute strategies for timely procurement of materials and inventory management to support production needs.Oversee material planning, production scheduling, purchasing, and inventory control.Coordinate with production teams to ensure material availability aligns with manufacturing deadlines.Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules, maintaining strong vendor relationships.Analyze and monitor inventory levels to minimize carrying costs while ensuring supply meets demand.Implement lean manufacturing processes to optimize material flow and reduce waste.Track key performance indicators (KPIs), such as inventory accuracy, on-time delivery, and cost effectiveness, to measure department success.Resolve supply chain disruptions and lead corrective actions quickly and effectively.Drive process improvements and recommend cost-saving initiatives within materials management.Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards regarding procurement and inventory practices.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.Strong understanding of inventory management systems (e.g., ERP/MRP software) and supply chain analytics.Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interface with internal teams and external suppliers.Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team while fostering a positive work culture.Highly organized with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.Experience with lean manufacturing principles and cost-reduction strategies is a plus.Key Competencies:Confidence: Ability to make sound decisions and present solutions effectively.Calm Under Pressure: Maintains composure and provides direction while managing high-stress situations or resolving issues.Team-Oriented Leadership: Skilled in leading and developing cross-functional teams with a focus on achieving collective goals.Adaptability: Capable of pivoting quickly in response to shifting priorities or unexpected challenges.
