Title: HR GeneralistDuration: 6+ monthsShift: M-F 8AM-4:30PMJob SummaryThe HR Generalist will provide day-to-day human resources support for the West Point Mill facility located in West Point, VA. This position plays a key role in labor relations, recruitment, talent management, policy compliance, and employee engagement. Acting as a liaison between management and employees, this role supports HR initiatives aimed at improving workplace culture and organizational performance, with a particular focus on managing union relationships and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild strategic partnerships with front-line employees and supervisors to promote positive employee relations.Develop and implement progressive discipline plans to address attendance, conduct, and performance issues.Ensure HR policies and procedures are effectively implemented and compliant with federal and state regulations.Serve as the first point of contact for labor relations, including managing grievance procedures, administering the collective bargaining agreement, and supporting labor contract negotiations.Advise and coach employees and managers on HR policies, labor contract interpretation, and proper operational procedures.Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to support workforce planning, recruitment, compensation, and training initiatives.Investigate and resolve employee relations issues, complaints, and concerns.Support continuous improvement of HR processes and mill performance metrics.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.3 to 5 years of progressive experience in an HR Generalist role.Experience in labor relations and union environments, including grievance and contract management.Working knowledge of federal compliance guidelines (e.g., OFCCP) and employment laws.Proficiency with HRIS tools, payroll systems, and general HR functions (benefits, compensation, performance management).Strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and environments.Proven success in applying creative thinking and a growth mindset to solve complex problems.Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting HR in a manufacturing or unionized facility.Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies in HR operations.CertificationsNone required, but professional HR certifications (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) are a plus.
