This role is responsible for developing and implementing purchasing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services. The Director of Purchasing will work closely with other departments to support production schedules and maintain inventory levels. Additionally, this role will manage a team of remote buyers for the assigned products and/or manufacturing facilities, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across different locations.Essential Job Duties:Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with company goals and objectives.Manage and optimize the supply chain to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure the best terms and conditions.Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, ensuring compliance with quality standards and delivery schedules.Collaborate with the production, engineering, and finance teams to forecast demand and manage inventory levels.Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, including potential disruptions and cost fluctuations.Lead and mentor the purchasing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.Manage a team of remote buyers, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and performance management.Implement tools and processes to facilitate remote work, including regular virtual meetings and performance tracking.Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and efficiency in the procurement process.Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance to senior management.Assist in other areas and perform other duties, as needed.
