Job SummaryThe Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations of the metal manufacturing facility, managing welders, machinists, and supervisors to ensure efficient production, high-quality output, and a safe working environment. This role is responsible for optimizing processes, meeting production targets, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.Key ResponsibilitiesTeam ManagementSupervise and coordinate the activities of welders, machinists, and supervisors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across teams.Production OversightPlan, schedule, and monitor production processes to meet deadlines and quality standards for metal products.Process OptimizationIdentify and implement improvements in manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.Quality ControlEnsure all products meet company and industry standards, working closely with quality assurance teams.Safety ComplianceEnforce safety protocols, conduct regular safety audits, and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.Resource ManagementManage equipment, materials, and labor resources to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.Performance MonitoringTrack key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, defect rates, and employee performance, providing regular reports to senior management.Training and DevelopmentOversee training programs for welders, machinists, and supervisors to maintain a skilled and adaptable workforce.Budget OversightAssist in developing and managing operational budgets, controlling costs while maintaining production goals.Problem ResolutionAddress operational challenges, including equipment malfunctions, staffing issues, or supply chain disruptions, in a timely manner.QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role overseeing welders, machinists, or similar teams.Technical KnowledgeStrong understanding of metal manufacturing processesLeadership SkillsProven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, including technical and supervisory staff.Safety KnowledgeFamiliarity with OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards in a manufacturing environment.Problem-SolvingStrong analytical skills to identify inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.CommunicationExcellent verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with teams and reporting to management.Software ProficiencyExperience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), Microsoft Office, and manufacturing software for production planning.Preferred SkillsCertification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.Knowledge of supply chain management and inventory control.
