We are seeking a skilled and motivated Corporate Counsel to join our experienced legal team. In this role, you will provide practical and strategic legal advice across a wide range of matters including litigation, employment, compliance, and contracts. You will collaborate closely with senior legal colleagues and internal stakeholders across departments.This is an excellent opportunity for a business-minded attorney with a strong foundation in commercial litigation, employment law, and/or transactional contract negotiation. The Corporate Counsel will deploy their broad skills to designated areas which will be assigned based on the person's skills, experience, and the business needs, with support from the Company's existing legal team.The successful candidate will be a motivated, business-oriented legal professional with exceptional judgment that can successfully interact with the Company's various departments and leadership. This is an in-person position located in Elma, New York, and candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to the Western New York area.Role Responsibilities:Assist with litigation matters and pre-litigation claims, including providing counsel, guidance, and support to the business on a broad array of disputed matters, including but not limited to commercial disputes and regulatory matters.Serve as legal counsel and support for labor and employment matters, including advising on accommodations and leave issues, assisting with company investigations, and responding to agency charges.Draft, review, and help negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements (including but not limited to, distribution agreements, co-manufacturing agreement, supplier agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and vendor agreements).Assist in managing employment related litigation, including providing strategy and evaluating and managing outside counsel.Assist in managing a variety of compliance matters, including regulations required by the Food and Drug Administration, and compliance with certain grant writing and reporting requirements.Qualifications & Skills:Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a nationally accredited law school.At least 3-5 years of experience as an attorney working in a legal practice with a focus on commercial litigation, employment practices & liability, and/or transactional contract negotiation.Admitted to practice law in the state of New York.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both written and verbal).Strong business acumen and the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical and actionable advice.Strong academic credentials.Ability to build relationships with internal business departments at all levels of the organization, along with customers and vendors.A passion for continuous learning and professional development.Competitive and above average salary and benefits!Steuben Foods, Inc. is committed to equal employment opportunity.
