SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Buyer Planner is responsible for identifying requirements, purchasing, and negotiating materials, equipment and supplies, and evaluating vendor quotes and services to ensure they are compatible with organization objectives. This position will oversee purchasing logs and records to ensure accuracy and follow through, and monitor quality of goods by reviewing costs, schedules, timeliness of delivery, and conformance to specifications. This role is responsible for achieving objectives while exhibiting Storm Industries Core Values.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESRegular Functions:Build Supply Chain Strategies by working with others to: assess gaps between sources of supply and product demand, building relationships with suppliers to fill identified gaps, and negotiating business requirements. Manage and develop current suppliers to bring new and improved product solutions, obtain required performance for win-win results and drive continuous improvement. Develop new suppliers as improved performance and/or alternative solutions are required. Monitor and manage costs of transportation, total landed cost and other material costs for assigned commodities. Manage standard costs for purchased items. Work with accounting to understand and resolve issues for inventory price variances. Manage MRP settings so purchase orders are created in a timely manner to meet forecasted demand. Identify when MRP is not generating properly and report issues to immediate supervisor. Included is DCO and Bill of Material implementation for all new items created.Communicate requirements to qualified suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedules.Prepare inventory and expense purchase orders and change notices for standard purchase orders and handle returns to vendors for assigned commodities.Maintain procurement records on items or purchased services, costs, delivery, product quality and performance, and inventories. Keep records on action items. Ensure procurement history file integrity.Work closely with Customs Broker, Suppliers and Compliance Manager to process documentation timely to avoid delays in Customs and Border Protection. Receive booking information and shipment documents and review for accuracy and add to the Incoming Calendar.Periodic Functions include:Participate in Material Review Board as required to resolve supplier quality issues.Participate and attend monthly Sales and Operations Planning meetings.Prepare and attend production meetings.Other duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities:This position does not manage or supervise other individuals.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and/or Experience:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.Minimum three years related experience.Understand and have used an MRP system in a manufacturing environment.Required Behaviors and Competencies include:Results oriented, with ability to get things completed.Strong skills for analyzing information and problem solving.
