Job SummaryProvide comprehensive strategic leadership and direction for the Human Resources department within the organization. Lead the development and implementation of human resources policies, programs and services, including recruitment, selection, retention, legal compliance, employee engagement initiatives, employee benefits, compensation strategy, employee relations, employment practices and procedures, employee communications and employee events.Major Areas of ResponsibilityParticipate in the development of the organization's strategic plans focusing primarily from the perspective of the impact on people. Translate the strategic and business plans into HR strategic and operational plans.Lead the HR functions by consulting, guiding, educating management and team on best HR practices to ensure increased commitment in attaining organization's strategic objectives. Develop staffing strategies and implement plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the organization for positions of responsibility. Identify appropriate effective external sources for candidates for all levels within the organization. Responsible for advising management to ensure company compliance with all federal, state and local laws related to employee benefits, compensation, employment and training. Remain current with changes in human resource and employment law. Ensure HR team has proper training to remain current with HR regulations. Oversee all employee benefit programs including medical, dental, life, disability, supplemental medical, 401(k) plan, PTO, FMLA, unemployment, and workers' compensation. Work with vendors and brokers to identify best solutions for the organizational goals and philosophy. Implement programs and policies that foster a workplace culture consistent with the core values and mission outlined by the leadership of the organization. Serve as internal consultant, trusted advisor and problem solver to leaders and advise/participate in employee situations including talent development, performance action plans, counseling, discipline, and terminations.Manage annual and mid-year engagement survey process. Work with leadership to understand the outcomes of the surveys and champion new initiatives based on results. Identify opportunities for new programs. Manages the internal training and development efforts for the organization. Ensure growth opportunities for the entire team as well as provide training for necessary and level up skills for team success. Keep abreast of training trends for new training opportunities for the team. Responsible for wage and salary administration, development of compensation plans. Perform compensation market analysis regularly in order to attract and retain high level of talent and ensure competitive compensation plan. Report results to senior leaders and Board of Directors. Analyze results and make adjustments accordingly. Works with management to conduct job analyses to establish the specific requirements of individual jobs. Oversee the creation of appropriate job descriptions. Ensures job descriptions are current. Participates with CEO in annual process of organizational planning that evaluates structure, labor forecasting and potential team member promotions. Evaluates the HR dept. team plan for continual improvement of the efficiencies and effectiveness of the group as well as providing professional growth opportunities. Works with outside legal counsel on employee issues as appropriate. Produces effective written communication to employees as needed. Ability to evaluate and understand HRIS systems. Must be able to create workflows and processes within the systems. Recommends and manages departmental budget. Once approved, ensures operations are conducted within budgeted guidelines, noting and reporting variances monthly. Serves as a member of the Leadership Team and attends weekly and other meetings as required. Demonstrates positive support of the Visit Orlando mission, vision and Brand promise. In all personal actions, supports and complies with Visit Orlando's policies and procedures, performance standards and code of ethics. Serves on boards, task forces and committees when requested. Personally conducts or oversees training for new employees to ensure established procedures are clearly understood and followed. Monitors the work performance of assigned personnel on a continual basis, conducts effective performance appraisals, and takes corrective actions whenever necessary. Creates a working climate in which assigned personnel are motivated to develop their skills and abilities and demonstrates by personal example the desired standards of conduct and work performance. Administers company policies in a fair and equitable manner with regard to discipline, tardiness, absenteeism or insubordination, and fully documents all incidents and actions taken.
