A leading global law firm is seeking a Director of Administration to lead operations for its Washington, D.C. office. This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing all administrative functions within the office and ensuring seamless collaboration with national business services teams. The Director will work closely with firm leadership to drive culture, operational strategy, and talent engagement, while maintaining high standards of client service and operational excellence.Key Responsibilities:Partner with firm leadership to promote a strong office culture and deliver consistent, strategic communication across teams.Reinforce a client service-focused mindset across all business services and outsourced providers.Support the development and implementation of office-wide strategic and cultural initiatives.Oversee day-to-day administrative functions, including facilities, secretarial services, records, library, and paralegal support.Serve as the local liaison to national departments such as HR, IT, Marketing, Finance, Business Development, Docket, and Risk.Monitor and manage the office's annual operating and capital budgets.Supervise outsourced vendors across services such as mailroom, food, and duplicating operations.Support lateral hire integration and ensure onboarding aligns with firm values and operational standards.Partner with HR to facilitate hiring, talent development, and performance management processes.Champion team engagement and build a strong, collaborative office environment.Ensure adherence to firmwide risk management policies.Lead the development and upkeep of local business continuity plans.Collaborate with senior leadership on office space planning, leasing strategy, and workspace optimization.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.Minimum 10 years of senior-level operational or office administration experience in a law firm or professional services environment, with responsibility for multiple departments and direct reports.Strong leadership presence with a proven ability to manage people, processes, and priorities.Deep understanding of law firm operations, structure, and risk management practices.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.High emotional intelligence and discretion; calm under pressure and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with workflow systems.
