Spartan has a rich history in fire apparatus manufacturing with over 250 years of combined experience.What a day in the life of a Master Scheduler at Ladder Tower looks like:The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing the production schedule, communicating it out to the organization, and managing all plan changes. In addition, develops production schedules in accordance with sales forecast, plant and employee capacity, and new business opportunities This position works closely with sales administration, engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing management to ensure an effective flow of work in the process to meet shipment schedules.Align with Supply Chain to understand supply constraints (capacity/mix limitations, logistics issues) and, similarly, incorporate these into the scheduling algorithm.Create the build schedules over both the near-term and long-term.Align with Sales to understand deliverable build requirements that drive the plan.Align with the Engineers assigned to each shop to understand shop constraints and incorporate these into the scheduling algorithm.Build the plan using Theory of Constraints & Optimization techniques to ensure that the following objectives are achieved: build mix is achieved each week, the plan is structured so BU can run as efficiently as possible, and critical supply chain constraints are accounted for (supplier capability issues & logistics costs, i.e., expediting) so that the lowest cost build plan is achieved.Lead the cross-functional change management process when issues occur inside the frozen window.Coordinate the introduction of new vehicle variants into the production system.Participate in the daily BU operational review to understand and maintain the health of material flow through the factory.Owns BU status & performance (weekly, monthly & quarterly) out to production management & key partners/stakeholders in the organization.Pull data from the ERP and the production management systems to understand status.Use data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI to generate the status reports.Support operational report out to the weekly Executive Sales and Operational Planning meeting.Define the business requirements and generate the use cases to drive software development.Ability to successfully work across the organization, while influencing change regardless of direct reporting relationship.Provide leadership and partners with key stakeholders across the business unit to drive process improvement and meet business objectives.Required education, skills, and experiences to be successful:7 years' experience with inventory management, materials, purchasing, supply chain, or related functions.Bachelor's degrees in Materials, Supply Chain, Business, or related field requiredAPICS Certified, with demonstrated application of the APICS Body of Knowledge within past work experience.Systems knowledge - design/selection/implementation (Materials - MRP, Inventory Optimization; S&OP / Demand Planning; Purchasing; Inventory Tracking - Voice, bar codes, RFID, etc.).LEAN Training with practical application and leadership experience.Multi-plant Management is preferred, where the focus is given on managing client/provider relationships between vertically integrated plants; JIT in a demand-driven / continuous flow environment.Materials management experience in an environment including customized manufacturing, multi-level Bill of Material.Knowledge of MS Office applications as needed to satisfactorily perform work assignments - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint as well as the ability to learn company enterprise systems as neededInterpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Physical demands on this role:The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
