Job Description

The Area Human Resource Manager will proactively engage with the business to develop an outstanding and high-performing work environment. This position is responsible for providing HR leadership and expertise, influencing business and talent outcomes for eight locations, with responsibility for the performance and development of two HR professionals. This position builds strong partnership relationships with business leaders and employees by providing support for the full HR function.This is a remote position, and candidates should be strategically located within the state of Ohio to support business units within the North Atlantic Region. Travel required in order to support 8 manufacturing facilities in this region. How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock:Lead key initiatives and provide solutions for employee relations, organization development, performance management, workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee development, and succession planning processes. Design and lead initiatives which serve to ensure we have strong plans in place to attract, develop and retain the talent and capabilities needed to meet business objectives.Partner closely with leaders and other members of the HR team to assess the pipeline of internal talent. Work with Talent Acquisition to create strategies that will attract outside talent.Partner with Learning & Organizational Development and others to identify training needs and solutions for the plants as well as individual leadership coaching needs.Support plant leadership teams to assist with developing a culture of positive employee engagement.Oversee all aspects of HR including Compensation, Employment, Benefits, Training, Employee Relations, Talent Management, and Labor Relations.Maintain compliance with all applicable Federal and State Laws including EEO, FMLA, HIPAA, ADA, and the NLRA.Proven record of analyzing HR processes and introducing improvements that have positive business impact and measurable ROI.Coordinates labor relations activities including contract interpretation and grievance administration. Handles complaints, settles disputes, resolves grievances and conflicts, and conducts internal investigative procedures.Manages HR program roll-out, communicating the business value and minimizing business disruption.What You Need to Succeed:Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related discipline7 years of experience in a fast-paced HR or business role, with 3 years in a labor union environment - RequiredBroad experience in employee relations, organizational development & planning, talent management consulting and compensation/rewards.
